Porta Palazzo Market Guided Tour and Tasting
Reviewed December 12, 2017

We enjoy markets and this is huge and fun. As usual, watch out for pickpockets, but that's standard advice in big markets. There's something for everyone but what it amazing is to stick around after the market closes and watch how it is broken down, swept, cleaned, and within a very short time it is empty. We saw barrow people trundling their goods down side streets. If it weren't for cell phones we'd have been in the 18th century. Great fun. The fish market and the covered food market on the north side, alone, are worth the visit. Whitebeard83

Came to look for ham which is in the inside part and does not shut shop at 2 like the outside fruit and veg and fish. Made great purchases with tastings of cheeses salami and ham. Bought mushrooms outside. There is a farmers market but we did not know when we visited. The fish market is in another inside part.

Fairly rough area of town.

Didn't look at no food stuff.

I was told that this was a large market and it is.
To be honest I did not buy anything but took lots of photos and this place really did delight the senses. Such great fresh produce - meats, fish, fruit, vegetables as well as flowers, fabrics, clothes, toiletries and household items.

We visited the fruit and vegetables part, open air. We found a great variety and good prices, even better offers. The clothing part is like a low version of Oriental bazaar, probably best avoided.
