it was our first evening in orta san giulio and we spotted this small restaurant with an inviting patio. we opted for the menu - big mistake. the starter, presumably an assortment of salami, was the oddest and worst i've ever bern presented: 3 small slices of salami stuck in curd together with three cheese crackers and some sort of leftover involtini that could have easily been mistaken for something entirely different. my husband's seafood salad was edible but that was all. the primi piatti came straight from the microwave; they were so fresh we could even hear the "ping" from the kitchen. when i told the owner that this was not at all what i had expected, i was educated this was a traditional dish...yup, courtesy of iceland or bofrost. the vitello tonnato were a few slices if meat covered in mayonnaise straight from the jar. we skipped dessert and passed on the delights of yet another convenience food provider. summary: if you are into microwave dishes - this is the place to go!
