Very nice restaurant with great food located right on the shore of the lake where you have a perfect view of the island and can enjoy the sunset. Can't be more romantic. Staff was very attentive even though the restaurant was full.

Thank Lise S

We ate at Ristorante Venus on the last evening of our holiday with my boyfriend, and we regret it. During our stay, we had been eating in most local, tasty restaurants such as Edera, Pizzeria la Campana and Al Boeuch, which I recommend highly. They all served great, authentic athmosphere and service and most importantly tasty meals for very good value. Ristorante Venus was not only overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area, but for that money, you'd expect to get very good, tasty food. The reality was quite the opposite. The waitress was rude, clearly tired at the end of her shift, disappointed that she had to serve yet another customer. She merely placed the food and glasses in front of us and said the obligatory "prego" etc. but made no effort otherwise. We ordered two "primis", spaghetti and risotto and two salads as main courses. The salads sounded interesting, but once we got them they were not at all what fresh salads should taste or look like. My oriental salad was soaked in heavy curry sauce and the praws didnt taste fresh. My boyfriend asked for extra anjovis, never got it, but we were billed for it. All in all, the bill was 82 euros, which we would have happily paid had the quality and the taste of food matched the price. Unfortunately, this was not the case and we left disappointed that we had gone there for the last meal of our holiday. I urge everyone to eat in the local restaurants, not these big touristy places. You will get more for your money and your belly will thank you!

We were a little hesitant to go here. "Eventually, Italians will never spoil the pasta" - decided we and were completely right! To tell the truth, we ate a divine ravioli with spinach and ricotta and a most gentle tartare and tasty pizza calzone! Everything was superb! And for sure - on terrace overlooking San Giulio island. That was like: Eat divine food, Pray for what you have now and Love the moment you are in!

Venus as a pizzeria ristorante serves full meals and pizza but not lunchtime Sunday .... Time to fleece the poor tourist? And what about the locals who also use this superb location for some out of season sunshine and a glorious view over one of the most picturesque squares and lakes in Italy, if not the world? The food is good but overpriced... We had the Alternative menu: two mini hamburgers made with fillet steak (actually micro and slightly overcooked too) one classic and the other with excellent crispy pancetta and cheese fondue that had somehow lost its character and really good fries, a dessert. A bottle of water, a bottle of Italian artisan beer and a glass of Gavi, two coffees. All this for 75 euros. WHAT?????? Yes you heard right! I cannot say never again.... The view is so stunning. But certainly never again for Sunday lunch. I guess I'm waiting for the snack menu to come back for the "poor tourists"! My feeling is at times like these you should be giving good value for money AND good service, which actually was also absent.

They have undergone renovation of the ground and first floor in January/February 14. I am not sure if the ownership/staff has changed as well. The menu looks "high end" and interesting in terms of the creations but there is low/no explanation of the menue by the staff, we for example got not informed what the "greeting from the kitchen" was. Prices are quite high (for off-season). Finally the coffee was "burned" - maybe they first have to be trained on their new great coffee machine...
Hope they improve until the season really gets off ... and hire some more attentive staff.
