“Worth a trip to Asti just for a meal here.”

Very surprising to find this quality of food and service in a tiny town. The owner is helpful and you don't feel pressured to order more than you want. He described the 5 appetizers they had today and offered to make up small samplings of all for each of us. They were excellent and we were able to try things we would not have ordered such as raw chopped veal which was an unexpected hit.

Since we were getting full after this he offered to take our top 2 primi choices and let the 4 of us split them. The pasta with white truffles grated table side were luscious and the house agnoletti with meat filling was tasty. Dulio recommended a red wine which was great with the meal and only available locally to add to the local focus of the food.

We were in transit to Turin so only had lunch. Would love to try for dinner!

Don't be put off by the simple decor or location. You will not be disappointed

“Simply fantastic”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

We attended a special white truffle evening and the dishes were superb especially the white truffle egg - the speciality of the house. The hosts Duilio and his wife Susanna (also the cook) were friendly and attentive.
We are a middle aged Australian couple who are very interested in food.

“Don't miss this restaurant!”
Reviewed September 9, 2011

I am in this region to attend chef's school. I visited this restaurant based only on trip advisor reviews, it did not disappoint. The proprietor spoke English but was patient enough to speak in Itaiian, slowly and repeatedly, so that I might improve my Italian. The food was excellent! They were kind enough to fit me in without reservations, even on a busy night. Italianchefschool.blogspot.com

“A must go!”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

Looking for lunch in the neighborhood of Asti. Since Tripadvisor reviews were very positive, we decided to go for a (quick) lunch. Pity we couldn't go back later for dinner, since this ristorante is a treasure! Duilio (the owner) doesn't seem to have a menu (but lets you choose amongst what he prepared), and the wines he has (and there are quite some) can be drunk by the glass (or actually as much or as little as you want). Food was really great, and we spent quite some time chatting with Duilio about winegrowers to visit etc... He's a great guy, and I'd say the opposite of a tourist trap (you don't find this restaurant 'by accident'). It's clear he holds this restaurant because he loves his job, not because he wants to get rich.
Is this a restaurant I'd go to have a great dinner? I don't know, but I definitely want to try next time I have the chance. I'm sure we'll get back to this place. Thank you so much Duilio!
