We stayed in the Mandarin Oriental Milan during a summer family trip with our two kids. We had two connecting Junior Suites which were wonderful in every way for our family. The hotel was opened mid 2015 and it occupies four 19th century buildings located in very close proximity to the fashion district, Brera district, the Galleria and Duomo. It is tucked away from a busy street in a perfect convenient location within walking distance to all. The facility is a beautifully renovated boutique hotel with 104 rooms and suites designed by acclaimed Italian designer Antonio Citterio with contemporary and Asian feel. The staff was very helpful and nice and we were allowed early check in upon arrival from Milan Malpensa airport which is a 45-minute drive. They had popcorn machine and popcorn for the kids to make which was a nice touch. The bathrooms, beddings, furnishings were all very exquisite and very luxurious. The breakfast buffet was limited but they would be happy to bring you anything from the a la carte menu and we had breakfast in their beautiful outdoor courtyard. The hallways smell of a beautiful scent and their toiletries all smelled great which added to the overall experience. Having stayed in MO in NY, Barcelona, Singapore and Miami, this is the best by far and we would love to come back here again.

We spent one night at the Mandarin Milan before our flight the following day. The hotel is centrally located and is right near the Duomo and a variety of luxury and normal shopping.

The service here was excellent. The previous 4 nights we had spent at the Belmond Splendido in Portofino, where the service was poor, so staying at the Mandarin was a breath of fresh air. The hotel staff and concierge really tried to accommodate all of our needs and make our stay great. The hotel can set up for you a private tour of the painting the Last Supper, which you can view with roughly 30 people, which was a pretty special experience.

In addition, in their 1-starred Michelin restaurant, we asked if they could serve us some meat and cheese, which they didn't offer on the menu. They said it wasn't offered but they would see what they could do. They completely accommodated us and created a beautifully presented meat and cheese plate.

My only con which is just Europe and I can't do anything about this but they allow smoking in their outdoor restaurant. Based on how it's situated within a courtyard and the hotels walls border the courtyard, there is no ventilation. The table next to us complained about the cigarette smoke and I wasn't so keen on it, but they allow it, so there isn't much to do, thus I didn't detract a star. I'd suggest a ventilation system to help with the smoke.

From the first greeting at the door to check in, concierge and all food and beverage services, the service is top drawer in every regard.Their attention to detail and efforts to provide you with whatever you need is beyond any expectation you may have. The rooms were bright and spacious. Even the location was great. Everything you expect and more from a Mandarin Oriental hotel!

when we checked in the receptionist was so helpful and couldn't be more accommodating he even sourced a room for me that included a bath in the bathroom as i had a broken wrist and wouldn't be able to shower, The room was beautiful the bathroom was sublime and i was extremely grateful. The next morning the receptionist on duty was again very very helpful , so was the concierge in finding us a suitable restaurant overlooking the Domo.
well done to the staff and yes the hotel was well placed for the shopping and only a ten min walk to the Domo. We loved it and will not hesitate to go back again.
