“Overhyped”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

I was truly looking forward to our visit to the so-called the first and only Michelin starred vegetarian restaurant, but was very disappointed by the banality of dishes. The menu is at first sight poetic with eye catching name such as 'oh my dear planet' ' the fifth taste that I like' but the poeticness lasts only until you got your dish. No clue how the name is associated to the food you got on your plate! Secondly the repetitiveness of the ingredients is unbearable. How on earth can that happen with the variety of vegetables exist in our dear planet. Despite an avid fan of artichoke, I would not like to have them so often in one single dinner! Atmosphere and service was simple but okay, even at times we need to pour our own wine which you wouldn't expect in michelen restaurant, but oh well no big deal. My final question would be what's the value for money? 120 euro for a tasting menu with the cost of ingredients that's probably very low despite all being natural/ Eco friendly...

“to visit once in a lifetime!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

The chef Pietro Leeman has been a great innovator and its amaizing what he and his equipe can do with such a limited spectrum of ingridients.

The highlight of the evening is when the chef comes out to see his guest and explain his cuisine and life philosophy.

Definetly to try once!

“fabeleous surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

We never went so far to a pure vegetarian restaurant. Based on the comments in other reviews we tried .... and for sure we will come back . No way that we would spend again some days in Milano without a dinner in Joia. We took a fabeleous menue getting several dishes which were really absolutely outstanding tastewise but also the presentation was on the same very high level. This restaurant has already a Michelin star but the kitchen can already go for more but the service will then have to catch up. The staff in the restaurant is motivated , has potential but is not at all on the level of the kitchen. Nothing bad and easy to correct, so we will come back asap
