“It is ok”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

If you want to try a seafood you can visit this place, the food is ok, but nothing special- in Milan you can find better places. You should book the table in advance! And the best places are on the terrace!

If you can afford the price (70euros per person)and if you like fish, don't miss the experience. Your "palate" will have one of the most interesting experiences ever. Bravo Paolo!!!

“Quite an experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

On our second day in Milan (and our second day in Italy), we went for a long walk along the main canal in the Navigli to the San Cristoforo church (a very ordinary walk, not to be recommended) and then wandered across town and along Via Savona to find the Piazzale Generale Cantore. It took us a while to find the restaurant (noone had heard of it - even the two guys whose cafe turned out to be about 50 metres away from it). We made a booking for lunch and returned to our hotel to change.
We were first to arrive and our reservation got us the best table at the far end of a lovely conservatory-style room, from where we could see everything happening. We were warmly greeted by the owner and all of the many waiters and started with a martini and a margharita. Our waiter, a very funny and friendly man, showed great mock disappointment at our initial menu choices and, after a pantomime of feigned offence from all three of us, we put ourselves in his hands and the menus were hurriedly dispatched.
The remainder of the afternoon is a bit of a blur. We were presented with a vast array of dishes, all of which were wonderful and designed to show off Milanese cuisine and seafood. We polished off two bottles of equally good wine and then were offerred a glass each of some sort of myrtle berry ? fortified wine by the two local couples at the next table. Dessert was washed down with two glasses of prosecco.
We were glad to have made a reservation as the place filled up quickly with a crowd of well-dressed locals who all seemed to know the staff well. We were the only two tourists. Having been first in, we were also last out and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. This and our lunch the day before at El Brellin were two of the best meals we had on our 5-week visit to Northern Italy. The walk back to our hotel became more of a stagger for one of us and a long siesta followed before venturing out late for aperitivo.

“Delicious..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

I have no words to describe all emotions I got at this restaurant..:))
I'm very pretentious about quality of meal and service, but at this place you feel something special.. Starts from meeting with owner, who meet you there, amazing seafood, perfect services, all staff are very hospitality. Frankly speaking, I came there with not good mood and expectations about place because its difficult to find good restaurant in Milan, but they changed my mind. I advise everybody to visit at least once this restaurant and you won't forget it ever. Thanks for all staff, you are amazing..

“It worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

I know this restaurant since late 60s.Still the best one for seafood!
The ambiance is very nice:the must is a table a table in "veranda"
Domenico, the owner, welcomes you with his warm amiability and I recommend to follow his suggestions. All the staff is very friendly and professional.
I recommend the "Risotto del capitano",one of the best in Milano, and all the antipasti.
It is expensive but not too much for Milano.
