Near the train station and near to Lima Metropolitan station, the Hotel Salerno, is in a good position for everyone that wants to go to Milan for business and for leisure time. In few words: clean rooms but poor breakfast. However, the price is good in compere the service.

Ciao Gabriele,

Grazie ancora

This Hotel is in my opinion the best in the area. It is well located, cheap, and have the best rooms.

The hotel is quite, and I never heard a sound despite the fact that it was full.

Ok ... the breakfast is somehow kind of ... better to go on the first snack-caffe you will find on the street, but for the rest, this is really a wonderful option for short and cheap stay in Milan.

The best I found so far actually

Regarding the service, there is nothing to say, you just stay in this hotel for sleeping ...

Positive: The room was ok - but the location was superb - just 5 minutes walk from the train station in Milan - so that is a big plus. Breakfast was included in the room price - but I left early so could not try it. The room was clean as well.

Negative: Not much - You get what you pay for and I was overall happy with the hotel.

Milan hotel is quite expensive in general relative to other places in Europe.

Salerno is a 2 stars hotel, so relative to its rating, it's not too bad.

Pros:

Close to central station and Lima metro station. Room rate is reasonable, breakfast is not too bad.

Cons: Room is a bit dark, a bit noisy due to the tram.

Overall, if you want somewhere cheap but decent I would recommend Salerno. Coffees at the hotel (Latte) are $1.50 Euros, water is $2 for 1.5 L which is rather cheap for the hotel rate.

Make sure you ask the reception to turn the heating on if you are cold because the switch inside the room won't be working if not activated.

It is recommended that you should eat away from the main tourist to get decent price and good food.

I arrived in Milan quite late in the evening and went to the first affordable-looking hotels on the square in front of the station. This turned out to be full but the receptionist directed me to the Via Vitruvio where, he said, there were many inexpensive hotels.

I tried a few but they were either a bit expensive or full. Got to Salerno and it was both affordable and had a single on the first floor at the front. Another reviewer points out that the trams are noisy. They are. However, I can sleep through anything so didn't regard this as a problem. If you are a light sleeper, it will be.

The room was small but clean. Two single beds. Bathroom contained a wash-basin and shower. A bit cramped but certainly fit for purpose.

What I did find spectacular was the plasma TV and a choice of several hundred TV and radio stations! Not unusual if you're staying at a 5 star hotel but exceptional at the Salerno level.

Breakfast was good. Staff were extremely amiable.

Possibly not the most ideal hotel for business travellers or honeymooners but for the casual gypsy it's good value for money. Not exactly at the pulsating heart of the city but near to a main artery.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back of the hotel.
