“My worst accomodation”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2009

Located a few minutes away from the centre of Milan, this is really a bad example of what a hostel is. The location is not the problem since in 15 minutes drive you'll be in Piazza Duomo.

I had never heard of it but it was my only option of reasonable accomodation in Milan since at the time there was a fair and many hotels were fully booked. I regret that I only had this option, but since I didn't knew the hostel, I gave it a try.

You'll be looking for a prominent door with a nice sign that indicate you that this is the place where you'll be staying........but nothing of this. The door is a small door, the size of a normal house. After you find the small door, you smile and ring the small bell that indicate you that its hostel diablo bell. The door opens.......you push it and enter and you find yourself in a block of like flats where residents live. Then you look around and you start laughing and asking yourself whereyou are going. In the corner you can see a small door which is the main entrance. You enter and find the reception, with the receptionist being either a man always dressed with the jacket hood in his head, or otherwise another man which cannot speak English.

To cut the story short, we had a room of 4 beds, with one bed that broke as soon as my friend sat on it, room with no curtains and that everything can be seen from the reception area. In the night, when it's time to sleep, a lot of noise with music and shouting can be heared from the room which doesn't let you sleep. During the day, when normally there'll be some noise, this hotel is quite. Here it seems that things work the opposite way.

And what about the breakfast........you can't imagine. Nothing works, not even the coffee machine, and your option is something from the fridge, but it was almost empty. There was a lot of things which I can mention but it is hard to remember all the special bad things that this hostel can offer.

My best help to people considering staying here is that unless they don't like extreme adventures, their best thing is not to stay here, otherwise they can experience the unexperienced.

The hostel was overbooked and they made us walk in the rain to Arco Hotel which was extremely unfriendly and terrible. We had to pay the difference ourselves and could not get back our deposit we paid on hostelworld. An extremely unpleasant experience filled with unhelpful staff and terrible lies.

Initially, this place seemed decent enough. The guy at the front desk was polite, the room was a good size, and the bathroom was large and clean. The only problem was the bedbugs!! Can't say much else about this place. The location was okay, fairly close to the train station (short cab ride)... the area it was in was a bit dodgy, but it was cheap...

The hostel itself is okay, nice rooms, bathrooms, standard stuff. Staff is incredibly dodgy....they over book and then try and send you off to a hostel across town (two girls in front of me had the misfortune) they sorted it out my first night but the next day after i got back from sightseeing, all my stuff was just sitting in the comon room (oh that's safe).... because there was no room for me again (and yes, i had prebooked, confirmed and paid!)....promised me they would have one ready by the time i got back...which they did, turns out it was the reception guy's room...DODGY! and did i get refund? of course not!

Even though the hotel was only €120 for a double bed and private bathroom for two nights I would not reccomend you stay here, it is not good value for money.
The taxi driver had to help us find the hotel as we arrived in the dark to Milan Central station and could not find the buses that were written on the instructions.- it is at the back of a compartment complex and it tooks us a good 15 minutes to find it once we were in.
The reception was quite friendly and helpful- the room was large-ish with a good sized bathroomwith a nice hot shower. These are the only really good points that I can say about it. Our very uncomfortable double bed was two plastic single beds held together with what looked like 'danger do not cross' tape. The large window looked out on to a brick wall which was soo close there was no curtains in the bedroom. The sheets were stained and there were cockroaches around as well.
The location wasn't too bad once we had figured out where we were- but it wasn't that central (even though there is a great take away pizza accross the road).

Was hard to find the place. Taxi driver had to get out himself to look for it. hostel isnt by itself. its in an apartment block within other hostels too. Manager was helpful, but as soon as we walked in we can smell the odour from the person sitting on the couch, which also stank out the whole reception room and hallway.
Rooms were big with bathroom. Next day there was no smell anymore.

This hotel/hostel is in an excellent location - easily accesible by number 73 bus from Linate airport. The same bus continues to the area near the cathedral. Neither journey takes very long. The accommodation itself is set back from the main street - look for number 43 Corso Marzo. It isn't immediately obvious.

The staff were very friendly and the room was clean with a very good bathroom.

While some other residents were rather noisy one night, I have no other complaints and rate the experience as very good value for not a lot of money. I booked through hostelworld
