The atmosphere is like in Argentina but of course you feel that you are in heart of Milan. The nicely decorated relatively new restaurant is a must if you are in town. Great staff very high quality. Pata Negra, La Tartre, filetto di Lomo etc... are just amazing. The wine list is rich and fantastico and do not miss the famous Sangria!!!

Thank Mariann B

I recently had dinner at El Carnicero with three other of colleagues. This relatively new restaurant on the Milan dining scene is beautifully decorated with a casual, yet hip atmosphere. We had a reservation (highly recommended) and we were warmly greeted and seated at a spacious table topped with quality linens and dinnerware. Unlike many other restaurants in Milan, I am pleased to report that the tables were not crowded close to one another, affording adequate privacy for dinner conversation. Vintage Argentinian music played over the house audio system that initially was nice for atmosphere, though became monotonous after 15 minutes.

Service was top notch, being very attentive and friendly at the same time. It was almost like being in an up-scale restaurant back in the U.S. I've never had an Italian waiter who introduced himself by name, indicating that he will be our server for the evening. Most of the wait staff spoke English, so language should not be an issue. The menu was presented in Spanish and Italian. A complimentary mini-salad was served along with a mixed breadbasket and herbed butter.

Everyone knows that Argentinians have the best quality meat and steaks and they usually know how to cook them very well. Not the case at El Carnicero. I started my meal with the Vegetarian Antipasto that was simply grilled vegetables served over toasted bread. The vegetables were flavorful; however the bread was either over toasted or stale, as it was difficult to cut through. I followed this with the Rack of Lamb that was presented in a classic manner, having intertwined (Frenched) rib bones. Unfortunately, the lamb was over-cooked, dry and difficult to chew. Even the Argentinian topping sauces could not revive the meat. The dish is served with sautéed onions in a balsamic reduction that were flavorful, though difficult to cut.

I compare this restaurant to Don Juan, another popular Argentinian steakhouse in Milan that I have frequented for many years. While the overall service and atmosphere is better at El Carnicero, the quality of meat at Don Juan is much better. The bottom line is to go where the good food is, so I have no plans to return to El Carnicero.

One of the best Argentinian resto in Milano. Great atmosphere and food. Not to miss the Sashimi of meat and the Patanegra. Friendly staff and lovely owner that welcomes you in warm hands.

Starting from the time I entered the restaurant to paying, the service was impeccable! When i visited Milan, i found this gem of a restaurant. Being from Arkansas and a red meat lover, I've had my share of meats and this restaurant has great quality meat! The atmosphere is something out of a upscale New York restaurant, very beautiful!!
