Milano Hotel America

I think the best part about this hotel/hostel is the friendly staff. They were always ready and willing to help with questions. They speak Italian, Mandarin, and of course English.

The rooms we had were very clean and the beds were soft. There was very little street noise and we all slept great. The hotel is in a good location. Close to the center of town but far enough away that all the near by restaurants are inexpensive.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean at all times and it was a good 30-minute walk to the city centre. Moreover, sushi place right next to it was a good value for money and very convenient - I'll definitely stay there again :)

Direction : If you came from Milano Centrale (the central train station). If you came from the airport around Milan, there will be a shuttle to the station. Take the bus no 92 in the halte near shuttle to airport, you will find there is so many buses to Malpensa/Bergamo, go to the road and you will see the halte, take the bus away from the tunnel. You need to buy the ticket first on the ATM machine near Metro station in the station or in the Tobacco store around station, day ticket is 4,5euro and 90 minutes ticket is 1,50euro. Stop at the Piazza Emilia, after via Piceno halte. Cross the street to Corso 22 Marzo, not the street with park, and you can see on the right side of the road a big building with the name “stone”. The hotel is in the 4th level.

Comment : It’s hard to find a nice place to stay in Milan based on the location, price, availability and facility. I just selected Hotel America because the review is not that bad, around 70% and they listed that the price include the free wifi, breakfast, towel and linen.

Review : It’s very near the city center, you just take bus no 92 to train station or 60/73 to San Babila M1, 73 to Linate airport, Tram no 12/27 to Duomo. The corso 22 marzo street is full of restaurant, there is also a McD not far from the hotel. There are a few ATM (italian bank) and Deutsche Bank near the hotel, you can buy the ticket for bus in Tobacco shop beside the hotel or in the newspaper stand.

The room is clean and cleaned everyday. The breakfast is good, 1 croissant, 2 small crunchy bread with butter and nutella, 1 cup of tee/coffee, 1 piece of orange and boiled egg. The bathroom is shared, one with shower and one without, it is clean and they cleaned everyday, although you sometime find your hotel mate is the one who make the bathroom dirty. They have tv, even almost all channel is in Italian. Some review said its very hot in summer, but I come in winter so no problem at all, the street is quiet noisy and there is a construction work behind the hotel but not disturb me at all. The wifi is good, sometime you need to tell them to restart the router. They ask to leave the key because they have only one key, so don’t left anything precious in your room. The receptionist and also the owner? is Chinese, I think she live there with her son. She speak Italian, Chinese, and English, although the English is hard to understand, but her son speak very well english. She offer to use the computer for 1euro/hour and you can print something for 0,50 euro/page. There is a vending machine selling drink in front of the hotel with normal price.

The room was clean, but smelled like cigarette smoke from the previous guests. We were given the room at the end of the hallway, which came with a sink, which was nice. The toilet and shower were down the hall so it wasn't bad at all. I would stay here again if the room didn't smell like smoke.

The only thing good about this hotel is the staff. They are friendly and helpful but the hotel itself was not great. The rooms were small, there were 5 of us and it looked like they had squeezed an extra 2 beds in to save another room! It's not in a great location, bus ride away from the centre. It also took us a while to get from this hotel from the train station as the directions weren't great. It was also noisy during the night and there are 2 toilets and one shower between 10 rooms. Wouldn't be back here anytime soon.

- Nice and kind staff
- Clean
- Bedroom too hot in the summer
- Transports by night are limited (but in milan seems that is that way for everywhere)... but there are many buses nearby to the center during the day.

This was one of the worst hotel I ever been to. It was a building-place with a lot of noise from traffic
and from house restoration. We could not be there more than one night. Air conditioning was an old blower in the ceiling which turned off when the light was turned off. The two bathrooms were divided between the 10 hotel rooms and dirty.
