Description: In Via Savona 20 you can always count on good company and a good glass of wine. The "cicchetterie" and regional tastings are the strong point of the restaurant where you can entertain yourself in the foot or choose to take a seat. Chef Luigi will reserve its most elegant tables with a seasonal menu, with an autumn always rich with the best truffles and porcini mushrooms And of course the original "cotoletta alla milanese": strictly calf, with or without the bone and always soft and succulent... A must!

For anti-pasta the staff prepared a special plate of curried meats. The pasta first plate was outstanding. The lemon sorbet in Grappa was dreamy. Fabulous meal over all. Luigi and staff were most helpful as we don't Speak Italian.

We saw this place on trip advisor and having exhausted all the restaurants in our neighborhood decided to head here. For all you expats, the street the restaurant is on was really cool and had tons of bars and late night places to hang out at after dinner, so also a bonus.

This was the best meal I've had in Milan and it the Luigi and the staff were so lovely. My husband had the fettuccine to start and the ossobuco while I had the zucchini flowers and homemade tomato spaghettini and everything was amazing. Luigi also recommended the perfect wine and made the night complete....all for €109. We had to walk home to walk the food off but it was worth it! We will definitely be back with friends and colleagues!

I would like to address the review as described: :
"Occhio al conto!!!!!! Un risotto al tartufo bianco un piatto di formaggi misti ed una bottiglia di vino Nebiolo alla modica cifra di : 100,00 € LADRI"

I am a regular at "Da Luigi", and an American living in Italy forover 20 years. I completely disagree with Davide O's accusation.
First of all, Luigi serves only current season white truffles from Alba, 2013 prices are published and available to the public; 3.500 euro/kilo. Truffles at the restaurant are weighed at the table on a digital scale,
a normal portiion being 8-10 grams = 28-35 Euro. A good bottle of Nebiolo cannot cost less than 30-40 euro. So 58-75 euro would be the minimum cost of the Truffles + wine for the client above. 25-42 euro would represent the remaining cost of a plate of risotto + plate of premium cheeses + service etc, costs which are in line with quality Milan restaurants. While 100 euro is certainly a significant amount to pay for a meal, ordering truffles from Alba, considered the most expensive food in the world, along with a superior wine is a luxury and the cost should not be a surprise. To accuse the restaurateur of being a thief (ladro) after consuming such luxuries seems more a demonstration of ignorance than a useful suggestion to potential clients.

I live in Milan and I have to admit that is hard to find a real genuine cuisine in this town where fashion seems to be the most important thing.

If you don't care about fashion, at least when you're sitting to have a nice dinner, Da Luigi is the right place. Not that the place is not nice. It is elegant and relaxed but the food... Oh the food !

You can start with wonderful starters, a mixed of Milanese and Piedmontese traditional food. I suggest anchovies and veal with tuna sauce but basically all of them are great. You can also get a mixed starter and this will give the chance to taste different italian specialties.

Moving to pasta and rice dishes, level stays high. I love risottos. Beautiful the one with mushrooms but also the 'Luigi' with beans and sausage is simply lovely.

Meat in a Piedmontese influenced place is absolutely moving. Meat in Piedmont is a religion and this restaurant is a worship place. Any choice is good.

I can talk about dessert, if you're not full. They're great but I just realised I didn't talk about wine and spirits.

You can have magnificent wines for honest price, and what Luigi proposes is often a astonishing choice, letting you know some wine you didn't know.

I've been in this restaurant at least ten times and I'm ready to come back for other tenth beautiful occasions.

Excellent wine, excellent food, charming service. Best ossobuco ever. Every single bite at Luigi's is a memorable experience: try any of his starters, or something as easy as peaches in wine. You will discover a wide choice of meats, each with an appropriate sauce: veal or duck, rabbit, hare, pork… Choice of wines is extraordinary -- try one of his Amarone. Quality beers are also available. Prices go with the quality, specially if you pick a really expensive wine. But even in this case, you will not regret it. If you think that food should in the first place be interesting, this is a place to go. One of my favorite places in Milan.
