“Excellent authentic Chinese food!”
Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

Decided to visit Kim Bar after reading the reviews and it definitely lived up to its reputation. The Cantonese-style food is of excellent quality and, having visited China, Kim Bar definitely serves food that holds up incredibly well in comparison. Portions could be bigger but it's offset by the extremely reasonable price, which will be hard to beat anywhere in Milan. The only negative is that there is no menu in English and the owners don't seem to speak any English. So if you are in Milan with an Italian speaker and want great food, then this is the place to go to!

“Shooting myself in the foot...”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

The best thing about Kim Bar is that just enough people know about it to keep the cash flowing, thereby keeping the chef inspired and the ingredients fresh.
The worst thing is that everyone is gradually 'discovering' it (thanks in large part to TA...), which means you definitely need a reservation, and the time between courses can sometimes expand beyond what one might deem acceptable, wedding banquets excepted.
This is because it seats 30+ but only has 1 chef, 1 server (the delightful owner), and 1 bartender/gopher.
It's basically a shabby Italian coffee bar converted into a culinary playground by the delightfully exuberant and deeply committed folks who run it. It wasn't supposed to be as successful as it is, so they have their challenges.
The prices are unreasonable - insofar as they are far too low for the quality of the food.
The menu is a total bore - all the usual stuff. Which is why you want to let the owner bring you the unlisted specials that change every day in function of availability, freshness and the whims of the brilliant chef who combines traditional Hong Kong fare with unpretentious injections of 'fusion', never missing his mark.
Party of two, apps, 3 courses, dessert, rose grappa, espresso: 40 euros. Wtf more could you ask for?
Ignore reviews by Americans who claim the portions are small - they're perfectly generous for normal people who wish to live past the age of 50.
Best Chinese in Milano, bar none.

This is a nice and inexpensive chinese restuarant. The food is typical. But they do not speak a word of english and do not have menus in english.

“So fabulous”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

The best Chinese restaurant in milan. The chief is a magician who will enjoy your mouth. All the specialities come from Hongkong. Furthermore it's a reason to discover another kind of Chinese cook. And at the end, the bill is really very reasonable.

“Almost as good as it is expensive.”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Pretty good food, Hong Kong style Chinese. Not the best I have had, the US has much better Chinese food so I was let down because of the reviews. Also the food seems to be a decent price..... Until you see the portions. The portions were TINY, very small. After spending 18 euro I am not even close to being full. Also they don't speak any English or carry and English menu, so ordering was very difficult.
Bottom line, only go here if you are craving I and willing to splurge, or just not hungry, then you would be fine.
Let down :(
