“very good money value”
Reviewed April 2, 2014 via mobile

We tried the discovery menu at 18€ with starter, main course and desert, nothing special in food quality but good money value. Wouldn't recommend the Tiramisu because it's made out off whipped cream and tones of sugar, but would recommend to go there for its atmosphere and kindness of service.

“Intimate Cellar Restaurant – Tasty Traditional Food”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

My wife and I had lunch at La Buca on Sunday. The restaurant is downstairs (La Buca means the hole) and it is lovely, intimate with cheerful (naïve) murals on the walls and a friendly young waitress. We only wanted a lightl lunch but the portions are large. I had the vegetable soup and although it was very tasty I didn’t finish it so as to leave room for my pasta. My wife had the meat Tortellini and enjoyed it very much. It was a good portion and unlike Italian restaurants in the UK was well filled with meat. It was enough, on its own to satisfy as a (not so) light lunch. I had the prawn Vellutata Linguini and it was great, really lovely, tasty and filling, so much so that I couldn’t finish it. My wife had a coke and the total bill came to about 30 euros, great value for money in a nice setting with good waiting staff.

“A Lovely Experience”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

Located in the basement of a building (buca being a cave), the restaurant was actually very spacious and was painted to look like a charming villa with high, arched flower-and-trellis ceilings. Our friends had set menus of risotto w/porcini, pasta al pesto, salmon, fritto misto, zuppa inglese and apple pie, and we had a shared risotto w/porcini, grilled lamb chops, and veal chop with butter-sage sauce. Our waiter was quite hilarious, joking a lot with us during the evening, though she didn't miss a beat on good service, and with the check, she brought us glasses of icy limoncello. While the food was not exceptional, it was a wonderful experience and was conveniently across the street from our hotel for an easy first night in town.

“Nice prix fixe menu”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

We were staying at the Best Western Atlantic and used the internet to find a nearby restaurant - this was right across the street and visible from our window! The meal was quite adequate and included water, a glass of wine, 3 courses including dessert. The service was very friendly. A tasty bargain!
