This castello will remind you, if you need reminded, of how powerful Milano and Lombardy were for centuries. It's huge, and very interesting - we went to the main museum, which has some great medieval stuff, and to the prehistory and Egyptian museums - I especially liked the prehistory exhibits, but then that's an interest of mine. The Egyptology exhibit is small, but interesting - I loved that they included things that had been sold as one thing to visiting Italian nobility but then turned out to be something else. If you don't have much time in Milano go to this place, it's really cool.

Very interesting architectural sights, interesting museums with plenty for kids and adults to see and do, great park around the castle for walking, jogging, biking, concerts and relaxing. Food and drink vendors with lots of souvenirs for sale.

This looks exactly what it is.......a well preserved fortress castle in the centre of Milan.........not the glorified Disney castles but a real stronghold !!! Excellent grounds and walking through you get to a huge park to stroll in on those hot summer days.
Worth a look , also for the many events that go on inside.........but no jousting allowed.

Built in the XV century due to Francesco Sforza (here's where the name comes from), had been one of the most important military citadel in Europe in the far past (XVI-XVII centuries), several modifications came in succession during its history (Asburgo, Napoleon, IIWW) until latest restoration after IIWW bombing.
several museums but in my opinion the best way to visit is to take a walk along the fortress.
Just behind you will find Parco Sempione, the largest green area in Milan (no attractions, just walk in the shadow, particularly suggested during Milan's hot summers)

One of the most amazing castles in all of Italy. The scale of the castle is incredible and only five minutes walk away from the piazza duomo and Brera. Whenever friends come to visit us in Italy the castle is the place that they love the most in Milan. One side faces the centre and the south side faces parco sempione. I would recommend catching the old tram to the south side of the park or walking to see the arco della pace or "Arch of peace" which is the the other end of a road which leads to Paris. A project designed to connect Paris to Milan by Napoleon. Beautiful, understated and a great area to enjoy a drink later in the day.
