“Perfect Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

Hi Everyone, just like to thank Marie Rosa & Stefania for making our stay that must easier. As we were there for the F1 race, we had to be up early every day to get to the track so missed the reception opening/closing times! We managed to pre-pay our stay and submit our passport details in advance.
Its only a 10 minutes walk to Garibaldi train station and there is a tram stop just outside. There is a carrefour supermarket next door, ice cream bar opposite and many restaurants within a 2 minute walk from the hotel. We ate twice at IL Bue e La Patata (italian) and the Taj Mahal. Both cater for the locals, so the prices were excellent and the pizzas were only 8 euro each!
So now to the residence. Its a very secure and clean property and there is a lift for your suitcases etc. Out twin bedded room was perfect and had a french balcony overlooking the main street and the beds were comfortable. Only downside was having to take your plastic / wine bottles etc to the bins! Thankfully Maria Rosa arranged this for us :)

Whilst the outside of the building may be doused in graffiti (as is most of the area in Milan), the interior of the building is well maintained and in a good condition. The room I stayed in was on the 4th floor (top floor) and put simply, a basic self catered apartment.

With two twin beds in the apartment and a basic kitchenette, it's a suitable place to stay if you are visiting Milan alone or with another person. The fridge in the room is useful and there is plenty of crockery & cutlery to use if you want to prepare food during your stay. I've found microwaves to be a rarity in self catered apartments but the one in this apartment seemed to work and had been cleaned. The express supermarket next door is perfect for this type of apartment and open from 8am to 9pm during the week.

A few minor gripes to the place are the lack of lighting as in the main room there is only a large life size plug in lamp so the desk area is often dark if you want to study/work etc. The wifi connection was strong throughout my stay but would only allow one device to be logged in at once which is inconvenient but a minor issue. Lastly, if you are a light sleeper then this residence possibly isn't ideal as there is a tram line that runs outside and is audible from inside the room plus the electricity box ticks in a similar way to a clock which you cannot turn off at all.

Minor gripes aside, the apartment is a short taxi journey away from the city centre or a 25/30 min walk so in a suitable location whilst not paying the high city prices. There are still over 10 restaurants in the surrounding areas but for more choice, head into the city.

I didn't expect cleaning services in such an apartment but rooms are cleaned 3 times a week with fresh towels etc provided which is a nice bonus.

Room Tip: Away from the street side if possible.

Stayed here for the F1 weekend September 2012. Very clean apartment with only a short walk (10-15 mins max...) from the Milan Garibaldi Station - from here you can see the whole of Milan by tube and also get a direct train to and from Malpensa Airport for €10.

Excellent staff who bent over backwards to accommodate us on our last day (Sunday) when we checked out at 11 and wasn't leaving Milan till 19:00. Maria let us store our bags in the hotel and arranged for us to collect them even when there was no reception staff in the hotel over the weekend.

Room was very clean with basic kitchenette in one room with two single beds and one double room off this. Clean bathroom. Looking at the cost of hotels in Milan, you will pay a lot more for a lot less. Extremely secure with locks on both apartment door and also the door to enter the apartment block itself. For 4 people looking for a bargain base in Milan you won't do better than this.
