Went earlier this year and had pretty big expectations of the Duomo…. it's really impressive and superseded what I imagined! Entered via the gallery and upon exiting, we were taken back by the beauty and size of the Duomo. Be sure to cover up before you enter the Duomo, and if you have time try to do the tour of the roof. It's just as beautiful inside. We went back to the Duomo at night and it was lovely to see it glowing. Do yourself a favour and don't leave Milan without seeing the Duomo.

It is breathtaking, when you first see the cathedral making your way out of Duomo metro station. It is huge, and so much detailed that it impresses straight away. Plan your visit inside, because it is even more stunning there. That is why pay attention to your clothing (especially ladies). You are not allowed in shorts (guys as well), mini skirts, open-shouldered. The rules are strict and usually very much followed. However, entrance is free. The cathedral inside is huge and you keep wondering how that beauty was build only on people donations. There are payable attractions as treasury and tower (both costing small amounts). Taking pictures is 2 euros (though, it is very dark inside and better just to watch the beauty yourself).

I advise you to have a walk around the Duomo as well - it is really impressive in its detailed architecture. Later on, you can also enjoy a cup of coffee on a terrace of the bar on the roof of La Rinascente shop. It is fair price and you have a closer view over Duomo roof and statues.

Beautiful Gothic looking cathedral......... In the middle of some cleaning work, so you can see the cleaned white statues compared to older greyer ones. Massive building. free entry. Stairs may make it difficult for some people. Amaaaaaazing stained glass work. Stunning caved figures throughout. You can light candles (for a suggested but not monitored) fee for departed ones .

You should visit the Duomo in Milan. It is very beautiful outside with great architecture and stunning inside with lots of vitrauxs. The relics of two cardinals are also held inside the cathedral. You can also visit a small chapel in the basement and the treasury (for this you have to pay extra). Be aware of the dress code before enter the temple (no uncovered shoulders, no shorts) but I realized that they did not really obey on this. I aslo didn't like the fact that you had to pay 2 euros to let you use your camera inside the cathedral. It is preferable to buy some cartpostals form the kiosk inside. You should also visit the terrace of the Duomo, the view on the city is great. You can reach it if you pay some many euros, 7 if you choose the stairs (173 steps) or 12 if you choose the elevator. We chose the stairs but I think that the fare is too expensive in both cases.
