What you pay for with this hotel is the location and the location alone. Sure, staff are relatively friendly (not those doing check-in, unfortunately, but all others were) and breakfast is decent but the room was no better than an old 80s motel.

The carpet looks old and worn, the furniture ditto and the shower is an old plastic cubicle that someone's uncle probably installed. The television, buried inside the wardrobe (which means you have to switch off the telly if you need to get to your underwear), has got over 200 channels but you can't watch it from anywhere in the room without risking whiplash.

I had some trouble with my air-con in that it wouldn't stop and when I asked for help, the man said it would stop at one point. As it made enough noise to frighten a banshee, I wanted it to stop now, which apparently wasn't possible.

It is annoying that you have to get cross first before it's suddenly, as if by magic, made possible. The man flicked one switch, somewhere, and hey presto!

If you decide to spend most of your time outside and you want to be central, then this is a viable alternative. If, like me, you may also have to do some work inside, then perhaps it isn't.

Stayed with my girlfriend at the Ambasciatori between 8th and 12th of march, payed 155 € a night. The hotels location is more than perfect, no words to describe how centrally located it is, room on the 4th floor was big and had the greatest view of Milan, bed was very comfi and overall great room (416). Shame they put very poor soap and shampoo in the shower and plastic cups, but besides room was very satisfying.
Breakfast had everything you wish for in an italian breakfast( prosciuto, cheeses, fruits, diferent kinds of bread and the list is endless). Service is very proffesional and satisfying.
Very recomended,if coming back to Milan I will take this hotel for sure.

I am going to this hotel since over 6 years. It has been renovated now. I love it. The people at the reception are great. Only reservation team is a bit slow. But its in the centre right behind the duomo and next to the pedestrian Street. Luxury brands are 3 min walking away.Rooms are extremely spacious and clean. Yes it is not brand new all the rooms but the have everything you need. And believe me the space you get for this money in the room you won't get it in Milan anywhere else for it price range. They provide shampoo and all this things you need when you forget sometimes and wifi in the whole building. Breakfast is not fancy. But they have all you need. from eggs to cornflakes to pastry and cheese and jam. I stayed in some others and they really didn't had that selection. Its really nice. go check it out. walking distance to the whole city

Room Tip: Ask for room with walk in wardrobe if you stay longer than 5 days

Very good location ,extremely close to Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle.
Good and kind stuff, even though they were on a hurry every morning during the breakfast and we could not enjoy it that much.
Beautiful and spacious rooms.

buut..... there is also a desperate need for refurbishment.
So, to be short: if you don't care too much about HOW rooms LOOK you can enyloj spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff and do not expect anything more.
Hygiene is also not the best one... mostly due to the very old building and surroundings..
Average breakfast (for Italy, of course)

This hotel is is in a great location at the back of the Duomo, and a 10 min suitcase pull from Duomo metro. The rooms are roomy for Italy and while the staff put on a good attitude of indifference, they are extremely helpful. Breakfast is good, as are the beds and the shower is hot and strong. The windows open for some fresh air. This was a great location for our two day stay.

Having read some of the previous reviews I wasn't sure but booked this hotel anyway. We I was nicely surprised.

Located about 100m from Milan Duomo on a quiet square the hotel is very convenient. Receptions efficient and the staff friendly. My double room on the third floor was, by Italian hotel standards, huge (otherwise normal!); it was spotless. The bathroom also large was fine but slightly showing it's age. Wi-fi is free. Bed a little hard, but importantly the room was quiet as it was at the rear of the property, no view but quiet!

Breakfast offered a good buffet selection and more friendly staff. Check out was efficient.

The only down side was the lift. One small lift for the property was not very efficient. Of course there is a staircase!
