“Poor service - no wifi - generally good”
Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

There was no wifi for 4 days and on checkout after an argument I was told I could have a 9 euro discount when the discounted price "saved 108 Euros". A disappointing end to my stay. If you pay for a hotel with a pool in the expectation of using it and its not available then you wouldn't expect to pay the full price. They couldn't get that concept and for me WiFi is the most important thing.

Be aware the Trip advisor "discount" of 36 euros per night is only because of free WiFi which we did not get. In the hotel it says 3.50 euros a day for wifi so I'm not sure where the 36 Euro saving comes from.

The previous reviews about this being the best hotel in Italy perhaps raised our expectations. Reception was helpful, rooms clean and breakfast better than expected. I think it is a bit of a hike into town to the Duomo so we took the tram. The rooms are small, dark and stuffy, perhaps usual for Milan or a big city. The TV does not cater for the international traveller, 100s of Italian and one French channel. The most important thing for me is WiFi and there was a strong signal but no service which was very frustrating. On a wet weekend in Milan this was not the best hotel to be in. To leave feeling cheated is now our memory.

Great hotel, great service and good value. Stayed on two occassions (in/out bound). A 15 minute walk from the rail station that gets you to the airport on the Malpensa Express. Some good restaurants nearby with fantastic 9Euro happy hour drink and free food (buffet).

The hotel was one of the best we've ever been to in Italy. The staff is really helpful and nice, the breakfast was okay, and the room was great especially for 3-star hotel (we even had a view at famous Arca della Pace). To get anywhere from the hotel you have to use tram which is the best way to travel around the city. Many trams have such a stunning look, they have wooden seats and overall look so-so retro. But others are very modern. You can buy 48-hour ticket for 8.25 euro and travel without any restrictions and there are many places to visit in Milan.

Room Tip: Take a room with a view and a balcony (there are little balconies)

Much like some of the other reviews on here, I travelled here with my girlfriend and knew very little of Milan. This hotel is fantastic, the staff are very helpful and it's located away from the touristy areas and a short walk to some great nightlife (and park during the day). The staff spoke excellent english and were incredibly helpful in suggesting things to do and places to visit. The bar in the lobby area is basic, but nice, and the rooms are what you'd come to expect from a hotel of this standard (ie relatively basic but have all the things you need). I would definitely recommend it to people who are visiting Milan for a weekend.

I stayed here with my boyfriend during a weekend in Milan.
Before the trip I was confused about what area to stay in, as this was our first trip to Milan. We chose Lancaster Hotel after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and were definitely not disappointed.

The hotel has a very authentic and cosy feel. It's spotless as well! Rooms are nice. Heated towel rail is a nice added extra :-) Mini bar is also very well priced. I agree with another post, that the pillows could be a little better. The ones we had were very flat, but i still had a food nights sleep though.

Breakfast is sufficient for a day of sightseeing. They had cereal, toast, juices, a small selection of fruit, yoghurt, boiled eggs and croissants.

The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the Cardona train station if you will be using the trains, and a 30 min walk to the Duomo (cathedral attraction). We didn't find this a problem even though it was winter, because it is a very pleasant walk through a lovely park and weekend markets with other tourist attractions along the way.

There is a nice area a 5-10 min walk away with restaurants for dinner.

This hotel is by no means flash hotel, but it's really all you need for a stay in Milan, and for 90 euro a night you cant beat it. I would absolutely stay here again, and I wish more cities in the world had hotels like this!!

I love this place. So helpful and clean. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was also wonderful. Only criticism is needs new pillows. Location is perfect and quiet.Helped us in getting tickets to The Last Supper and metro. Helpful with directions and local restaurants. We loved the gentlemen who was the breakfast chef. We would absolutely stay there again if in the city and would recommend to everyone.

Room Tip: Needs fluffier pillows.

I stayed at the hotel last week. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Although not perfect in every sense of the word I was impressed. The higlights were: 1.Neat and clean room. 2. A reasonable yet not lavish breakfast. 3. Exceptional, outstanding helpful front desk, particularly the lady by the name of Tiziana. She went out of her way to help me find a tour, a station, a taxi. She even helped me find a store to have my Italian made camera tripod repaired. She was as enthusiastic about my sightseeing as I was. She is the epitomy of professionlism. Has a very good command of English. 4.Price and value for money. 5 Accessibility of the hotel.
Areas for improvement: The hot water in the showertook a long time to arrive and I had to run the shower for a while. I did report it it they attened to it but it needs futher improvement. I would prefer a face cloth or loofa in my shower. In summary a small hotel that gives exceptional good value for money in an expensive city like Milano. Highly recommended!
