De Santis is one of several small restaurants on the top floor of La Rinacente. One could think of this part of the store (using American terminology) as an extremely elegant "food hall." The periphery of the floor is lined with several very appealing looking small restaurants as well as coffee and dessert purveyors. The rest of the floor sells tempting, high-end gourmet foods, coffees and kitchen appliances.
The food at De Santis was very good. My sons had excellent sandwiches, I enjoyed a ham and cheese appetizer plate, and by wife had a better than average chocolate muffin. An interesting feature is that the rolls are served with small (tiny) bottles of olive oil and vinegar. Coffees, wine, and beer are also served.
It was a great way to spend lunch, Indeed my wife and son had eaten here before and purposely brought us here to eat. Be sure to take the time to go out on the outdoor patio on the floor to see a fantastic view of the Duomo.
