Loved it. 3 Star that feels like 4. Highly recommended. Alberto at the front desk is gracious and helpful and genuine. He set us up with a wonderful dinner reservation at Hostaria Borromei 10 minutes from the hotel. The hotel is clean, charming and tucked away on a super quiet street yet very close to the Duomo, galleria and surrounding sites. The breakfast was wonderful and had plenty to pick from. The minibar has free mineral water and soft drinks. What city hotel provides that amenity? I was so grateful to come from the train on a hot day and grab a water and not cringe at the price. I think you cannot go wrong here, just wished for softer bed and pillows. Not easy to find in Europe.

In the thoroughly modern European city that is Milan, the Gran Duca di York reminds one that Milan is an ancient city with historical and cultural sites dating back to Roman times. This 18th century building is tastefully decorated with art and fixtures of Milan's Renaissance past. Yet the rooms and baths are thoroughly up to date and comfortable. Located smack in the center of the historic center, the hotel is a few doors down from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, close the Duomo, and walking distance to the Brera, the Last Supper, and virtually every other site of interest. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The free high speed wifi is easy to access with multiple devices. Above average noise levels from halls and adjoining rooms. Overall we were thoroughly satisfied and would not hesitate to return.

Great location for Milan, but poor air conditioning and mediocre breakfast. The service is excellent,
employees are very nice, and the terrace for our room was a plus. You should get a good rate, too.
The bathroom was big, and the room pretty decent.

It was hot when we were there in July, and we were very uncomfortable due to the under performing air con. All in all, satisfactory, but nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: The terrace looks bigger in their photo than it actually is. But, we did enjoy sitting there and e...

We visited Milan at the end of a long trip to shop. We really didn't have any other aims. As such, this hotel was excellently located and saved us a metro/tram trip at the end of a long day. Breakfast is included and was very tasty. Wifi is fast and free, and the tv includes international language news channels. We requested, and received, a room on a high floor and as such didn't really suffer any noise problems. We did hear the street sweepers and doors to other rooms, but it was never enough to keep us awake or disturb us. Very friendly and helpful staff. We felt this hotel was very good value for monety, particularly when we compared it to other hotels in the area.

Excellent situation and reasonable price with perfectly good rooms makes this a good choice for exploring the highlights of Milan. Close to the cathedral and galleria, within easy walking distance to the Last Supper, Castello and the Brera. Breakfast unusual for Italy in my experience had bacon eggs sausage. Also has BBC CNN and Al jazeera channels on satellite. Room 306 has a little vignette view.

This hotel is very well situated. The room was very clean and nice. There's a lot of choice at the breakfast. The staff was helpful but not very warm and welcoming. We had some difficulties with our door lock and our shower. However, it's a good place to stay in Milan.
