“Tourist fare and prices”
Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

As experienced travelers we know better than eating at restaurants in the middle of tourist attractions. Nevertheless, since we were hungry and tired after a long journey we couldn't be bothered to search for a location away from Duomo area were our hotel was located. We chose this restaurant based on tripadvisor's reviews. The food was average (something we discovered later after eating at true local restaurants) but the price was way beyond average. As a matter of fact it was the most expensive meal we had in Milan.

“More than a tad expensive for average food”
Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

To be honest we broke the cardinal rule when we wandered into this restaurant for lunch on our first day in Milan. We arrived early at our Hotel Spadari and our room wasn't going to be ready for an hour. We decided to go and get our sim cards and went back after an hour and our receptionist was told 40 minutes more so we wandered further until we found the Piazza del Duomo. Some photos later we walked into the Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II, walked around and got hungry. The reviews weren't too bad on TA so even though it was a "tourist trap" right there in the Galleria, we were too tired in an unfamiliar city and decided on an early lunch here after looking at the menu.

We sat on the terrace in the vicinity of a heater so we were nice and warm. Our waiter took my coat and as soon as we sat, whisked out a bag hanger and hung my bag at the table. It was our first meal in Milan and we ordered a beef carpaccio with rocket and parmesan shards. They were very generous with the complimentary bread basket refreshing it with another basket when it was almost finished! Hubby thought his risotto Milanese and osso bucco was authentic and my spaghetti vongole was ok. We didn't have dessert but they brought us a plate of assorted Italian biscotti with our coffee.

All told, the service in this restaurant was good and food average, but it was to be the most expensive meal for the two of us at a whopping 84 Euros!

“Terrible service”
Reviewed October 24, 2012 via mobile

It was all very nice until we sat down. We were ignored as the table of ladies next to us were treated to all the jokes and attention their server could offer. Then he approached us being rather dismissive that I don't drink alcohol. I thought I'll give them a chance but then the tiny portioned, unsatisfying and overpriced food came. This was totally overrated and then to be ignored again once we made it clear we wanted dessert was the final straw. Then the final insult of having to pay a cover charge included in the bill. I'm sorry I even have to have to give this place a rating.

Great location, nice place, good food, service ok but very expensive because you're at the galleria and full of tourists.

“Excellent food even late at night”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

I write this review for two reasons:

1) Restaurants close to so-called "tourist traps" are often seen to be of inferior quality. This restaurant is inside the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. However, the food and service is top quality.

2) For those who are hungry after a seeing a performance at La Scala, there is usually the dilemma of finding a restaurant at 23:30 at night. This restaurant offers their full menu and top service this time of night. It was highly appreciated.
