Reserved a room for the two of us over the weekend of Nov 30th to Dec 4th. The bed was pushed against the wall and had to be moved each night. We also had the misfortune to be surround by drunken Russians who insisted on throwing their cigarettes out of the window, shouting and singing in the early hours of the morning and further banging on the doors during the night. This went on for 3 out of 4 nights. Despite several telephone calls to the front desk nothing was done. Unacceptable. Further, the shower was cold and when questioned we were told that it is a new system and to run the taps for 5 minutes, which we did to no avail. If I could rate this hotel as minus it would score a -5 TripAdvisor rating. How the heck did this hotel get four stars?

I must say that I have read some of the other reviews in utter amazement. I really think people have reviewed another hotel or something. The hotel is spotless clean, all the staff are absolutely lovely and helpful (wonderful dinner suggestions), and we had no issues with noise or anything from other guests. Yes, you sometimes hear the Metro as a low rumble, but not every time, and it does not run at night anyway. On the plus side, the Metro station Lima is nearby, taking you straight to the Duomo. The hotel is located on a very large shopping street with affordable shops, and the parking is only about one block down. We had a room towards the front and the soundproofing is excellent. Since the room is airconditioned, you do not have to open the windows. The breakfast is very good, certainly for italian standards. I think it is a nice touce that there is a little buffet at the front door, where guests can help themselves to juice, mineral water and crips for free all day. We also have no complaints about the wireless internet: it is fast and reliable. As somebody else already posted, the power sockets in the room are three-prong, and the normal EU-plugs do not fit. We plugged out the minibar, to use the adapter. I did not bother to ask the reception desk for an adapter, which they most probably will have. There was somebody illegally smoking in the corridor of our non-smoking floor, but you can hardly blame the hotel for that. We would personally prefer duvets above blankets on the bed, but the blankets were very clean. The decor is a little old-school, but perhaps you should not book a hotel with "Grand Hotel" in its name if that is not your cup of tea. Around the corner is the design hotel Serena which is so modern and sterile that its lobby looks like a hospital. We were actually happy with the hotel.

Room Tip: Hotel also has courtyard rooms, which have no view but are facing the street. If you want to sleep w...

This hotel is better than is stated on the website of Tripadvisor. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was very good. The noise of the subway was audible but not disturbing. For the price it is a good hotel in a great location!! Near the shops and near the Central Station.

This hotel has very small rooms and terrible service. We were here for 3 days and with the exception of the breakfast people who were very helpful, the desk clerks were terrible. And if you are claustrophobic, you will never be able to get into the miniscule elevator.
