We are two seasoned travelers who celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in Milano. We are active folks, having driven down from Munich in a rental car and wanted to do some “shopping”. And Milano is hard to beat when it comes to shopping.

Google the word shopping and Via Napoleone will be at the top of the list. Every major designer has a presence on this street, and Hotel Galileo is a 5-minute walk from Via Napoleone.

The hotel is very easy to find arriving either by car or the superb Milano train system. Check in was handled in a very professional manner and we were provided with a large room with a big bed, approximating a King Size by American standards. CNN and BBC in English on the TV, and a large well-lit bathroom with ample space for a woman to spread out here tool kit(s).

The room was quiet, and clean, fresh smelling a well appointed. The elevators quick and clean, two “free” computers in the lobby with fast Internet and a small laser printer. Wi-Fi was not available in Sept 2011; however, Ethernet cables could borrowed from the front desk for use in guest rooms.

A large breakfast buffet is served in a large comfy and well lit room with a great selection of fresh fruits, several cereals with milk or yogurt, warmed entrees like scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh asparagus, sausage links, and roasted potatoes. Several choice is cheese, a half dozen choices in smoked meats or sausage slices, a wide selection of breads, croc ants, or pastry. Coffee could be ordered in either “long coffee” as we Yanks would prefer, or any variation of espresso. Along with chilled juices and fresh preserves; the only problem was deciding where to start.

The breakfast buffet is included in the room charge.

The staff was very agreeable. Conversing in English was not a problem and when I needed something, either a pot of coffee for the room, directions or help with the free Internet, the help was quick and cheerful.

The Milan subway system is only a 3 or 4 minute walk from the hotel and very easy to use, and quite inexpensive. We took the train to visit the Technical Museum and view the Leonardo da Vinci exhibits, which were superb.

Parking is a bit “steep” at 35 Euros/night, however the car was secured in an off-street garage and promptly retrieved by a valet.

Milano, we will be back!

Great location for the sites and shopping, and the Michelangelo has a deluxe breakfast, great service, both in the restaurant and at the front desk. The hotel could use a remodeling though. However, it was clean, large and comfortable.

Good hotel very handily situated for all of the main shops and sights in central Milan.

Staff were very polite and attentive.

Breakfast was buffet style with more than enough choices both hot and cold.

Room was comfortable but could do with an update, the whole hotel having a 70's feel about it.

Would say there again.

Well located. Obliging staff. Smells. Run down. They advertise they have Internet but don't.
