I had tried Japanese food before, but this time I wanted a real Japanese restaurant. Sumire is strategically placed near the buzzing nightlife area of Corso Como and Corso Garibaldi; it's small so if you want to dine here you should book. To be honest, the food was good, but what I really appreciated was the atmosphere: every member of the staff was Japanese, we were seated directly in front of the chef who incessantly prepared sushi and we had our sake poured to the rim of the glass, until it overflowed inside the masu.

Wife was craving Japanese food, so we headed down without any reservations and were fortunate to get seats at the bar. The seaweed starter was excellent, my udon was tasty, wife's salmon rice also oozes quality. Too bad we couldn't try out their raw sushi as the wife was pregnant. Only one of the staff could speak an ounce of English so ordering was a slight challenge. We first went on a Tuesday, then tried to go to Hana on Wednesday but they were full, went back to Sumire and it was full too, so do book in advance!

Sumire is a small restaurant in the heart of Milan which is run by japanese staff (unlike the majority of chinese run japanese establishments). The difference is obvious when you come to this restaurant, the menu is much more varied with an accent on Osaka specialities. Everything is well presented and of the highest quality. Prices are reasonable compared to other lesser quality establiments. Well done and keep it up!

A true japanese restaurant: small and authentic. Staff is very polite and nice. Food is fresh and delicious! Be curious and try their specialities - dishes from Osaka. I would also strongly recommend to order noodles with shrimps and a thing called Kaisendo i I'm not mistaken. Very very good!

I've always been there for dinner and the place was perfect for it - intimate and romanic in a simple way.

Place is small and quite popular, so book in advance.

Très bon repas et une atmosphère chaleureuse !

Настоящий японский ресторан, не дорого, в семейной атмосфере.
