Stayed here for one night before a trip onto Lake Como.

Easy to access central Milan via tube, and also central Milan station. Although the area doesn't seem the best and is going through a lot of regeneration.

The hotel is not the best looking and the outside could be done with an update, inside seems to have been renovated recently.

Room equipped with all we required, ate in the restaurant for a snack as ate in central Milan mid afternoon.

Breakfast like all Novatel's is the average standard buffet, although it was busy and had to wait for some bits to be replenished which took longer than it should.

Would use this for overnighters due to price and know the standard it is at and what you get with it.

Room Tip: We were on top floor and was quiet enough, most of the area seemed very quiet

We had chosen this hotel because we thought it would offer the standard quality of a big chain hotel, a decent breakfast, close to the underground and sufficiently enough restaurants in the neighbourhood.
These last two conditions proved to be correct. Line M5 brings you to the centre in a quarter of an hour and there are nice restaurants in the neighbourhood (Il desiderio, la Sicilia, Ai tre peni, La Serinella).
But the hotel and the breakfast proved to be a nightmare. The so-called 'executive room' was an embellished single room with a tiny shower, an unbalanced bed, saggy on one side and too close to the wall on the other side.
The disturbing noise of the lifts and the airconditioning were another irritating factor. During the second night the airco noise got so loud that it was as if we were sleeping in an airplane. After insisting and negotiating we were given another room for the remaining two nights. A better bed, less airco noise, but with a leaking toilet. Also other small things went wrong: capricious Wifi connection, no glasses to brush our teeth, only 1 set of towels, cleaning maid knocking on the door on Sunday morning 9 o'clock… One evening all lifts seemed to be blocked.
In general the lousy quality of products at breakfast was there every morning: flaccid fruit juice, industrial 'dolci', machine nescafé unworthy of a country like Italy. On top of that, weekend mornings they could clearly not handle the stream of guests, we had to 'wait' until a table was ready and during our breakfast there were long waiting times for products to be refilled are there was no supply at all, in short: uncomfortable chaos to start the day.
Strangely enough, personnel was friendly and helpful and tried to make things right, which brings us to the conclusion that the problems of this hotel are more fundamental. This hotel is unworthy of the Novotel label.
Be prepared also for the greediness of the city of Milan's tourist tax: 5€ per person per night, in our case: 40€.

After spending a few weeks passing through hotels in Europe, Novotel was a welcomed change. Free wifi, room was huge compared to our last 2 hotels in other European cities and the breakfast was pretty good to boot. I would certainly return to the hotel when visiting Milan in the future.
