I stayed at this property on the first night of a 8 day Italy trip. With this being my first time in Italy, I needed something that was easily accessible so I could set my feet on the ground, catch a nap and plan the rest of my travels.
I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel, first reason being that the Best Western does not get the highest regard in the states and comes off as a cheap location.
This property was literally in eye shot of the subway exit after taking the train from Milan's MXP airport. Once inside, the property was very clean and the staff was attentive and willing to assist. The front desk agents all spoke English so there was nothing lost in translation.
We arrived a bit early before check in time but they were glad to hold our bags and give us suggestions on surrounding areas to grab lunch.
We walked around the immediate area for another 2-3 hours, eating, drinking and window shopping in the nearby independent vendors as well as the major brand stores. There was a bank conveniently next to the hotel where we were able to exchange Dollar for Euros for MUCH cheaper than in the airport or train station.
Once we returned, the room was ready and our bags inside. The rooms was clean and had a nice balcony window looking out over the street. As compared to American sized rooms, of course if was smaller but it was comfortable. The KING bed was comfortable and it was clean,. There wasn't much more to ask for.
The only glitch we had was that we were not informed that when you enter the room, you had to place the room key into a slot to turn the electricity on in the room. I understand this is a neat idea to save on electricity but I wish we were informed at the desk rather than having to call and have Engineering come up only to tell us about it.
In the morning, breakfast was a HUGE plus before hopping the train to Florence. It wasn't just continental breakfast with pastries and juice, but there were eggs, rice, breakfast meat and cold cuts to accompany those items. Great option for the price and proximity to the city and subway!
