Very nice hotel in a central location (right beside Stazione Centrale). Good design makes you feel at home. Friendly and helpful staff (if only the barman could manage a smile). Rooms are nice too. Comfortable bed and good size bathroom.

Room Tip: Guess any room will be fine as they are reasonably soundproofed.

Firstly, the hotel is very close to Stazione Centrale (Milan's main train station). We were greeted by snooty front desk staff - off to a bad start. Room was average size and very streamlined and modern. Bed was extremely comfortable with a menu of different pillows to choose from. I chose an ergnomic pillow that appeared to be filled with sand - was a bit dubious, but it was great and no neck pain. Must try to find one to buy!! Our room was facing the back, which we were happy with as we guess a room at the front would be noisier. The modern bathroom was a good size with a shower over the bath. Nice linen and towels. Only free wifi here was in the lobby. We refused to pay for wifi in our room when the rooms aren't that cheap! Don't understand when you have a 4-5 star hotel why they don't automatically include free wifi! The hotel is very popular with the Asian tourists/shoppers so we found if we went down to the lobby late afternoon/early evening we couldn't connect to the wifi as everyone else had the same idea, or if we were successful in connecting, it was so, so slow! We overcame this by going early morning or afternoon - when everyone is out shopping - still it was very slow and kept crashing frequently. Great location with the station literally a minute or two away, and lots of restaurants, cafes, McDonalds close by to eat at. The station is also huge with lots of shopping and eateries to choose from (including Burger King if you like that type of fast food).

It was pretty quiet for a smallish hotel. Ask for a non-smoking room if you are a non-smoker as in Italy you can smoke in your hotel room (providing you have a smoking allowed room). Luckily our room was on a non-smoking floor.

Large breakfast area and good options available at the breakfast buffet (continental), although my husband said everything tasted/smelled of fish. He couldn't eat the scrambled eggs first day as he said they tasted strange ....

Reasonably priced for Milan and close to all amenities. Would stay here again if we visited Milan. But they need to have tea and coffee facilities in the rooms - especially for the price you pay!

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the station area as it is very busy!!

My husband and I stayed at Starhotels Anderson on May 3, 2012. The location is ideal as it is situated directly across from the central train station and metro stop.
We arrived in Milan at 10:30a.m. Fortunately, we were able to check-in early. Our room was beautiful. It appeared to have been recently renovated with a large armoire, wood floors and a gorgeous, modern bathroom (including a TV!). Our room was on the first floor. We took a nap in the afternoon and I realized I could hear and feel the vibration of the metro. I asked the front desk if we could switch rooms. We were moved to a room on the seventh floor. Unfortunately, this was a poor move. Not only could I still hear the metro, but the room was older and smaller.
There are two major issues with this hotel. One, the doors slam shut. This is quite annoying when you are trying to fall asleep and your neighbors are going in and out of their rooms. Two, the hotel charges for in room wifi and use of the public computer in the lobby. (You get 30 minutes for free.) This is 2012, right?
We enjoyed the selection in the breakfast room and thought it was substantial, although the milk was warm.
Overall, I like the location and renovated room, but if I can’t sleep at a hotel (due to slamming doors), then it’s pointless. I also find charging guests for wifi is poor customer service. If I return to Milan I would probably stay somewhere else.

The hotel was very nice, but not great. When we arrived by car, there was no place to park to unload the luggage and the young fellow who worked there seemed at a loss to understand what we needed. No English skills - not a good attribute if you work in a hotel that caters to international travelers. The staff behind the desk were more competent but all of them reflected a cool detachment which we noticed among many Milanese in contrast to the Italians in Lake Como and Sorrento who were very friendly and helpful. In contrast to the Southern Italians, the Milanese on the street spoke no English, were not helpful and really couldn't give a damn - even in the shops. But we didn't let that ruin our experience of the city. The hotel's rooms were clean and adequate although housecleaning did little more than change the sheets and make the beds. Very little cleaning. We don't expect to return to Milan (except in transit) so we didn't really care.

Room Tip: Go somwhere else.

This hotel is well located if you are catching a train. It is very clean, modern, but a little cold in atmosphere. Breakfast was good, great coffee. Staff were hit and miss.
Our common gripe arose here - charging a fee for in room wi if access. A real turn off in these times, when even hotels in developing countries provide it with the room price. This is more bizarre as this hotel has invested in such room amenities as a small television in the bathroom! Charging for in room wi fi appears to be an odd and cynical revenue raiser and for us is a real put off.

Booked myself and a number if clients into this hotel for a few days. The reception staff and room were excellent, if the room was a little warm! Comfortable bar area, but it's not well manned and closes very early! The bar at the Echo across the road opens later.
The restaurant is small but the food fine, the breakfast wasn't great.
