Hotel is lovely although quite expensive with V&C @ 13.50 euros, but as you will find most bars charge not much less. The location is good for long walks around Milan about 40 mins to the centre or you can catch the tram, which has a stop located about 100m left as you come out of the hotel in the centre of the road. Look out for the orange timetable (Num 1 tram takes you to the duomo), buy tickets from local bars, with the ticket signs on the doors. If you are there to shop don't be afraid to haggle with the little shops outside the centre.

Must see's The last supper, the duomo, the castle and the park to the rear of the castle.

The rooms are excellent but the reception staff are just doing a job - not friendly - does not go out of their way - no coffee in rooms and charge you an arm and a leg if you order coffee outside the breakfast room. Ordered a sandwich and the bread was old, breakfast are limited to scrambled eggs and small sausages - other than this and croissants and a few tinned fruits, this is breakfast every day. Limited areas where you can meet for business and staff was noisy and did not care whether you are on the phone or in a business discussion. The location is good as it is near the Central Station and shops but in the end it is about people and I have missed the warmth - maybe I am too used to warm hospitality in my own country.....

We where pleased with all aspects of the hotel including breakfast.
Very close to railway station. If you ask for ice to take back to your room it will be served on a plate.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night was transiting from Milan to Florence. The Hotel is literally a 5-10 minute walk from the Milano Centrale station and is in the business district area.

The décor is that of a hotel that has not been refreshed for a number of years, but the quality and condition of all furnishings was first class. Nothing was worn, torn or stained. The hotel was still modern.

(+) Positives
+ The room was generous in size with comfortable bed. The room provided a quiet environment for sleep even on a lower level facing the main road.
+ Free, quick, Wi-Fi and free business center near the breakfast restaurant
+ Hot water with great pressure. Good quality individual toiletries were provided in the bathroom with a hair dryer.
+ Breakfast was amazing. A buffet style with staff replenishing all supplies and tending to hot drinks as requested
+ Location, close to the train station and a 15 minute walk to the Duomo
+ Free storage of our luggage while we explored Milan

(-) Negatives
- The bellboy were not interested in assisting with the bags upon arrival

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it strongly. There are a selection of good restaurants within a 5 minute walking radius – we ate at Mediterranea Ristorante and had great pasta.

We arrived at the Hotel to discover Alpha Rooms had not placed our booking. The staff were remarkable, giving us 2 rooms (party of 4) whilst validating our booking confirmation. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms, oh my god, quality with a capital Q. Veneered wood, immaculate interior everything you would expect from a flagship establishment. The reception staff were, contrary to other comments interactive, friendly, and even educational correcting by text book Italian into a real world version. Breakfast is continental containing high quality breads, cold cuts, cheeses and fruits. There is a twist in that they supply scrambled eggs and sausage from a bain-marie.
The Hotel is ideally placed 5 minutes from the metro, 10 minutes from the Central Station and 5 minutes in the opposite direction the the Corso Buenos Aires a major shopping thoroughfare. You have to lock your door and hand in your key which is no problem and an elegant touch , a bit retro but who wants a plastic card when visiting one of the style capitals of Europe.
You need to try very hard to knock this Hotel and some of the other comments are just picky. This by any measure is a top quality Hotel .

Room Tip: There are no bad ones!!!!!

The Doria Grand is an old hotel that has been beautifully maintaned. Rooms are large and very comfortable. Breakfast is included and is of good quality. The hotel is a10 minute walk (or one metro stop) from the central train station. The staff does not go out of their wayto be helpful but answer direct questions. The 23 euro dinner in the hotel bar ia a reasonable deal but the food is bland and the wine overpriced. A better option is a 10 minute walk to the mediterranean restaurant (hotel saff will give you directions).

We recently spent about a week at this hotel, and while it's quite nice, the staff isn't necessarily so. This is one of those hotels where you have to leave your key at the front desk before you leave the premises. Almost every morning, the staffer was sitting around the corner on the computer. There's a mirror on the wall so they can see if someone is at the front desk; however, as a guest, we also could see the rolling of the eyes and utter disdain for having to get up and do their job whenever we came to the desk and someone finally noticed us.

We also rented a car part way through our stay which really seemed to twist the knickers of some of the staff. We were mistakenly under the impression that the hotel might validate our parking ticket and we'd get some sort of nominal discount. Not the case. They actually charged us a few euro more than what the parking payment machine indicated, so every day thereafter, we simply paid at the machine and ended up saving quite a bit of money.

Oh, and on our first night, we requested a 7:00 a.m. wake up call for the next morning--they didn't call until the following day so as a result we slept in really late and missed a couple of activities that we'd scheduled outside of Milan.

We definitely weren't impressed with our stay despite its convenience to two metro lines and the Milan Centrale train station.
