Not the first times came to milano and my wife strongly recommended this hotel, main reason is the location just in the centre of the shopping centre of milan, almost every branded shops are inthis area, some of them even more then one shops.

Just go out from the side door turn right, we will saw the shops, walking thru already the cathedral duomo, then emanuelle shopping complex, i found burger king and local pizza in that area, the only department store/ mylti brand shop is ritacentre i found nice shirt at a bargain price.
The shops are open till late nite, if you are grazy for shopping at milan, you must stay ata this hotel, you can shop and walk back to hotel then shop again and again, lots restaurants too

the hotel facilities, internet is free and everyday need to ask for a new password from the reception to access the swisscom wifi in the rooms too.

My room is fine, nice a minimalist design, modern bathroom with bath tub

Breakfast also very nice, and a complete and good food for breakfast

Next time i will stay at this hotel again for shopping in milan

If you are visiting Milan and would like to be in the best shopping place in Italy , then this hotel is just perfect. In less than 2 minutes walking you can be in duomo. I stayed with my wife for 3 nights (10 to 13 January ) in room 439 which was a bit far from elevators. We visited Milan just for shopping as this period was in the winter sale period where you get 30 to 50 per cent off marked prices. So we were all day shopping for us and for our kids back home, and when we come back to hotel , we arrive very tired and just go to sleep. We really didn't test the hospitality of hotel Rosa but breakfast was very good with a good selection of food items . I think we got a good rate thru Expedia ( USD 1016 ) for a total of 3 nights , breakfast included. Two points I want to draw your attention to which worth knowing:
1) Internet is free in the lobby area and costs 6 Euros for 24 hours if you are using an iPad or similar tablet and costs 8 Euros if you are using a laptop. This is so cheap in Italy.
2) parking in the area is very expensive. The hotel charges you 50 Euros a night. But you can park in a nearby parking garage for 31 euros in 24 hrs.
I definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Milan for pleasure and needs to be in the Duomo area.

If you're going after shopping in Milan, this hotel is the right place to stay. My only criticism would be the lack of free wifi in room and the 1-hour automatic log off of free wifi at the lobby. The hotel staff kept printing numerous sheets with wifi login names and passwords for hotel guests to use everyday. That's not very environmentally-friendly. If wifi at the lobby was free, why kept getting hotel guests to login and logout with different user names and passwords every hour? That's not very convenient as I usually had to spend about 2 hours every night to check emails and work out my travel plans for the next day.

The heater in our room wasn't warm enough as well. We also had to ask for slippers to be sent to our room. I was expecting better service.

Btw, the hotel staff told us that we had to catch the Malpensa Express to the airport at Cardona station and there would be no trains departing from the Milan Central Station to the airport while we looked up info online ourselves saying that the Malpensa Express would also leave from the Milan Central Station. We later confirmed that the info online was accurate as we checked it out at the station ourselves. Didn't understand why the staff's knowledge on such easy transport questions wasn't very up-to-date.

Dear Jojofan,
We are glad you chose the Starhotels Rosa Grand for your stay in Milan and we appreciated your feedback.
We regret to learn you were not totally satisfied by the sevice we provided you with. We sincerely hope to have a new opportunity to welcome you back and bring your positive opinion back. Please be assured that our staff is always very willing to provide our Guests with the full assistance. The front office personnel are certainly aware of the several options you have to reach Malpensa airport but please note that if you want to get the Malpensa Express, the best way, from our Hotel, is to leave from Cadorna station, in terms of time, distance and frequency of the trains.
We thank you for your suggestion with regards to internet facilities. We took it into very high consideration!
Looking forward to welcoming you back soon, we remain at your complete disposal and with our best regards.

There's not much to say about this hotel per se. It's quite an average hotel with (usually) somewhat smallish rooms and unimpressive breakfast. What gets it an extra (+) is, however, the location - being few steps from Duomo it also is fairly quiet. With certain deals for the rooms it might be a good stay for a reasonable tourist.

Room Tip: You might want to ask a "larger" than average room - there are some for the same price.

Great location for shopping and site seeing. The Duomo is right next door! The hotel is very cool and modern. Rooms were spacious and the bed was ok. If you are a breakfast person, which I am, then you will be disappointed. The choices were minimal. The bar was very cool but drinks drinks were expensive.

The hotel is in the center of milan, 5 mins walk from the duomo and the shopping street, the rooms are clean and cozy. I go to milan every year and I always stay the Rosa Grand. The prices are a bit high, but it's definitely worth every penny.
