Owner description: Our red open top double-decker buses have already become part of the city of Milan and they are becoming more and more appreciated by tourists from all over the world and by those people who want to know Milan from a different perspective, without having to cope with the hectic pace of this metropolis. 3 lines, 5 buses and a commentary in 8 languages are the necessary ingredients to explore the city and visit its most popular attractions and places of interest: The Sforza Castle, Sant’Ambrogio Cathedral, Parco delle Basiliche and Leonardo’s Navigli area. You can take a ride on a boat tour for a mini-cruise and discover the canals. Then our bus takes you to the Duomo, Milan’s most famous landmark, and you can see the Golden Madonnina perched on top of the tallest spire; then you reach the Scala Opera House. The blue line reaches the new skyscrapers area and takes tourists around the luxury shopping area in the core of the fashion district which attracts visitors from all over the world, also the most demanding ones.

This cemetary was originally built for the family of an Italian nobleman. Later other wealthy families were allowed to bury their families there. The statuary and mausoleums are breathtaking and a tourist attraction that is not visited enough. They make the statue of David look small!

We have used this same company in several other European cities and this is by far the worst. Route "B" had a sync problem with its tape description and we were constantly looking for sights that we had already passed by. The music that was used was repetitive, off-key and annoying. Route "A" was considerable better in this regard but the price (20 euros per person) with no concession for senior citizens was far too much. We were disappointed, especially with the fact that there is no "One Day Fare." We had already made plans for out of town on the following day, so our second day, included in the price, was wasted. The attendants seemed quite bored and aloof and were interested in collecting fees and making change.

Avoid by all means!
The buses are never on time. You end up being stranded on a stop for ages, and when it finally arrives, it's full! So you end up waiting for another 30-60minutes to find out that the next bus is full as well. You end up wasting time from your holiday. Walking it or catching the metro is worth it.
The Audio Guide isn't really informative either.
The hop on hop off in Milan are the worst I've ever been on by far.

I've happily shelled out for these buses in various cities over the years and found them a great way to get your bearings, see things you'd otherwise miss or just to get a different perspective (from the top deck). You can hop on and off so it's a great way to pick off things you want to see that perhaps are a little harder to get to.

Sadly, this tour didn't live up to that at all.

There are two routes, largely overlapping. There is little you'd not see by walking or using the cheap and simple (and frequent) public transport. The only exception is probably the canal/dock area. We did a full loop from the Castello and back and then changed buses and just did another loop on the other route. The buses don't seem that frequent and there are long gaps whilst the bus 'waits' including during a loop.

As others have pointed out, the commentary is mostly music (Vivaldi's Four Seasons over and over again with some Verdi thrown in now and then), what there is spoken tells you little you'd not glean from the most limited guide. Also the route A commentary is very fragmented (I think they've added a new section to the tour) and the music chops and changes in a most annoying way.

Save your money and invest in a day ticket for the trams instead.

Only 2 1/2 hours train ride from Venice, take a short metro bus ride from the train station to city's centerpiece is the Duomo Cathedral, the fourth largest church in Europe, take it free tour inside the cathedral and walk around the Galleria next to the Cathedral.
