“Thiefs - don´t pay them any money before !!!”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

I booked accommodation in this hotel for my friends. The hotel asked me to pay 1.200 EUR in advance which I did. They have canceled my accommodation and never paid the money back (it´s more than one year after). There is a woman Marlene Torres which only promises to send te money but never do it. The hotel is going to bankrupt.

An average experience at a good price. Rooms were being renovated (oct. 2012) and needed some details ... but were spacius. Beds were hard ... but i prefer them this way. Breakfast were simple - but included. Hotel owner is a good spirited cuban woman who speaks spanish and italian - but not so good english. Anyways she is helpfull. You can shop at the nearby Billa supermarket and take the bus no 54 directly to the city center ... if you do not want to walk and experience the Milan life. Dont miss the thursday marked at Corso Concordia/Corso Indipendenza/Via Pietro Calvi sidestreets.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the stairs and reception tend to be noisy ...

We reserved 2 rooms for 2 nights on the 3-4th of October 2012, through Booking.com. First they charged my credit card one month before, although it was written that no deposit will be charged. The owner which is also the receptionist and she serves also the breakfast, doesn't speak English. There are no parking places so if you are lucky, you'll find a place for 1.2 euro per hour. The hotel is about 40 minutes walk from the Dome. But the biggest problem was that THERE IS NOT HOT WATER and the owner lied us telling that she will find a plummer to repair the hot water system. Actually, the hot water supply doesn't exist and she suggest you if you need a shower to go to the hotel on the upper floor where she has an arrangement for taking a shower. When we asked for the money back in order to find another hotel she refused (my credit card was in her hands) so we should have remained in this unpleasent place. For the other tourists: TRY TO KEEP AWAY . There is no WiFi

Room Tip: I don't reccomand

The staff at the Hotel Marlene were very nice and helpful. The price is right and the location was convenient, with a bus stop just around the corner and a train station within a 10 minute walk. Cons included feeling the springs on the bed when I slept and loud late-night arguing on one out of my two night stay - probably from outside, but it was hard to tell. The neighborhood is within the "red light district," and I did see a couple of "ladies of the night," but I never felt threatened or unsafe. So, it depends on what your looking for.

I was in a single room. The hotel and room were very clean room and in a quiet location. The accomodation is basic but with great extras like air conditioning and sky-tv. The staff were friendly. Good breakfast provided. Very easy to get into Piazza Duomo by bus (10 mins). If you are looking for basic accomodation to get a good nights rest, i would certainly recommend this hotel. Note: There are other hotels in the same building. Hotel Marlene is on the second floor.

Don't expect luxury - I recommend this hotel for young or youngish couples only - but it's clean and in a nice and well-served area of Milan. The hotel occupies the whole second floor of an early-XX-century building; there is a lift as well (though it's the old kind of lift which sometimes gets stuck because people do not close both doors properly). The owner and her coworkers are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is all right, with fresh pastries everyday and freshly brewed cappuccino (note that this is a 2-star hotel, and I've recently stayed at 3-star hotels where coffee was not brewed at the moment by a servant like here, but was kept in flasks or produced by machines, and it was the watery kind of coffee that we Italians hate! Almost an insult for the average Italian coffee-drinker). The hotel is in Cuban style, the furniture is not new but well kept. The bathrooms are essential and very clean (though some anti-limescale to the shower would do...). The rooms look on an internal courtyard, so they are rather quiet (pay attention though to some refurbishment works going on - I stayed there during the 'Ferragosto' weekend so there were no men at work at the time). Great value!
