It's probably the cheapest Hostel in Milan.

One important thing to consider is that they inform one price in sites like booking.com, then when you are at the desk of the Hostel, they just bill a bigger price based on excuses.
Yet, including excuses for billing a bigger price, It´s a cheap place.

But you have to consider that It´s is not a clean place nor has a good service room.
It´s just for spending the night there and keep your things with you.

The rooms are really dirty... the bathroom is a joke. The guys in the reception are unfriendly and don't really help you when you need information. It's like they are tourists as well..
the beds have this weird plastic cover around the mattress that makes an annoying sound everytime you turn. really not worth it. choose something else, even if more expensive.

First of all, the confirmation mail said that we should announce if we check-in later than 2pm. Well we did, but they neither answer the phone nor do they reply to e-mails.

When we arrived there, no one was at the reception and the housekeeper told us to wait upstairs and that he will pick us up in about 20mins. After 50mins we went back to the reception and asked what took so long and then the receptionist laughed at us in an arrogant manner and replyed that reception is not upstairs and it was our fault to be so stupid and wait upstairs.
We booked through hostelworld.com and there it was written that we have to pay €21.60 at arrival but he charged us €31! He wanted money for linen, although we had them ourselves. Therefore Hostel California charges €2.40 PER PERSON PER NIGHT but they never change it!

We are both students and under 30, so actually we had not to pay the city tax of €2 per person per night, as we recognized later. He argued heavily because of the linen, since it is written that the usage of linen is oblitatory (what definetily makes sence), but they add the €2.40 whether you have your own or not! All in all that would have cost €30.40 but we had to pay €31 and didn't get a recipe for that ("you have been sent one by mail", but that was the one with €21.60!). I honestly never met such an arrogant, aggressive, rude, impolite and unfaithful person in that business at all. I honestly would expect people in jail to be more friendly than he was.

The dorm itself was OK but very dirty floors (after a walk of about 3 meters to the shower the water was black!). There were also dozens of rubbish sacks in the floor to the dorm. Beds were clean but there wasn't a blanket so you had to cover yourself with the tiny rest of the linen, which was very uncomfortable. Mattress was pretty comfy though. Bunk beds were shaky so you always wake up when your mate moves and many steps were broken. I spottet only ONE socket in the whole room (12 beds).

The bathroom was just disgusting: hair, dirt and mold everywhere! The toilet stank terribly and the toilet seat was broken so they just removed it. There was no toilet paper.
Security is rediculous, since doors to the dorms are open 24/7. The receptionist said that that won't be necessary because reception is occupied 24/7 as well, but where has he been the time we arrived there and waited 50mins? Also everyone can come in from the street, although you have to ring they just open the door by pushing the button and don't care to which room you go. In the dorms there were very small lockers made of plastic and most of them were already broken. They sell padlocks at the reception (combination locks) which can be opened in under 10 seconds! Almost every time you return after several hours away, someone played around your lock (combination is different)! Clothes has been stolen there and since I was not the only one missing something and because of my impression and expeciences with the staff and after reading some other reviews I've that bad suspicion that staff is stealing from their guests...

Avoid this hostel! Either you will be robbed on the way to it or even there! Instead of €21.60 that night cost us - including stolen items and unjustifiably fees - more than €150! I'm so angry for not having read these reviews before. So please: don't be stupid and make the same mistake, just go anywhere else or sleep on the street!

Room Tip: Just go to another hostel!

They'll show beds at dorms priced at some 5 bucks that they'd inflate to some 10 bucks with all obligatory 'hidden' charges when you show up. Also, the 14 bed dorm is cramped and looks like a soldier barrack or something. Location-wise: way too far from downtown. Finally, they gave me a hand-written (fake-looking) illegible receipt, which I assume is their strategy to dodge the city-tax.

People who run this hostel try to earn as much as they can. They say there are no cheap rooms, they don't give you the key for your room, they are unpleasent.
Moreover bedding is obligatory for 2.4 euro, tax 2 euro, so it is not the cheapest hostel in Milano.
Don't come here. I recommend scream hostel or black&white hostel.

Not only does this hostel have one of the most dishonest and unfriendly owners, the place is infamous for its dirtiness and poor and crime-ridden location. In addition, I gave them 24 hours notice that I would not be staying with them for the week and they still charged my credit card anyway for the full stay, even though that is not their rule! DO NOT STAY HERE! There are many nice hotels in the city. Good luck!

Infestation of BED BUGS!
First night we were told to leave because we had been drinking and a member of staff stood at the door to make sure we walked far enough down the street away from the hostel (at 2am in a dodgy neighborhood).
Filthy common areas.
Can't stand up in the shower due to the roof being too low (1m high approx.).
No toilet seat!
Boiling hot, no air conditioning.
Rude staff.
My friend was overcharged so if you're stupid enough to stay here, check your bank statement.
Unstable WiFi.
Kitchen closes at 11pm.

Worst, most unhygienic, hostel I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed very cheap places before).

BITTEN BY BED BUGS!!!
