Owner description: The Duomo, symbol of Milan in the world, is one of the largest cathedrals in Italy and Europe. Patrimony of Milanese people and humanity, over the centuries it has been expressing, with its magnificence, the devotion of humanity toward the Divine, involving future generations in an endless commitment. The Milan Cathedral, besides being an artistic monument, is a privileged place of prayer, deeply linked to the memory and teachings of the Bishops who succeeded on St. Ambrose's chair, and to the history of the millions of worshippers who, every year, gather in this place to celebrate the Sacred Mysteries. The Cathedral is the mother Church of the Diocese, having a symbolic role of exemplarity both in the life of the city worship, and in relation with the Diocese activity.

“Astoundingly ornate”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

A lot better to see it in the flesh as was astounded by the ornateness and the superb detail of the church. A definite must to is a trip to the roof, as you get incredible views of Milan, and also see the beautiful structures of the church spires up close.

“Spectacular!”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

The inside of the Duomo is amazing, but go ahead and shell out the money for tickets to visit the rooftop. You can choose to walk up all the stairs, or for just a little more, take the lift to the top. The rooftop gives you an amazing view of Milan as well as of the Alps in the distance. I purchased the combined ticket that also gave me access to the treasury and the archaeological area. If you have a few hours to spend at the Duomo, the combined ticket is the best deal.

“First place to go in Milan”
Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

We've been to a lot of cathedrals, but the duomo in Milan was really something. You could occupy a good chunk of your day just looking at the doors, and the variety, scope and quality of the windows inside was amazing. And that's before you go up to the roof! (The stairs are quite manageable and not at all scary, by the way).

It was pretty busy, though, even in February, and very cold inside - we were very grateful for the famous arcade next door for a chance to warm up. The duomo is surrounded by other attractions including the modern art gallery, the royal palace with its exhibitions, the shopping arcade and (at its other end) La Scala.

For first time visitors, it's the obvious place to head for, and it won't disappoint.

“Majestic and impressive”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

The Milan Cathedral (Duomo) is a must visit attraction. The structure is majestic and impressive, and the exhausting climb (you can always take the elevator for an extra fee) is worthwhile because the rooftop is amazing.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, sunglasses and camera to document your memories and the stunning view.
