We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Thanks for the staff who made our holiday great. However it's very expensive hotel. If this wasn't my first time in Milan I would book a hotel bit far away from the centre, cheaper then this but same value.

One of the very best hotels I have stayed in Europe. Free wifi. Plain but superb breakfast. Excellent location. Very friendly service. Very clean rooms. Best of all - mini bar is free for non-alcoholic drinks. (I was fed up paying €5 for a small bottle of water in other hotels)

After looking at many hotels on tripadvisor, I picked Hotel Spadari and was not disappointed. We had a beautiful spacious room. The beds were very soft and everything was spotless. The breakfast was very good and the hotel staff are very attentive. We had an early flight out so the staff offered to pack us a lunch for the road. The attention to detail is great and the service makes it a superlative hotel.

The web site photos do not do justice to the hotel's charm. Had some reservations about the decor, the modern look can go wrong in a hurry, but they have done it well here. A refreshing change of contemporary artist's work, including a gift book of short stories by winners of the hotels' writing contests. A tribute to the creative vitality of Milan. Light and refreshing refuge in a busy, foggy city on our visit in December. Room No 43 opened onto back, roof top views, windows that opened with lovely live plants in window boxes and clean, clean windows.
Wonderful attention to detail. Loved the little face sponges as opposed to tired wash cloths, nice amenities in bathroom.
Service is friendly and efficient. Front desk tried to arrange dinner reservations at a good local restaurant, however, last minute on a Saturday night settled for reservations at Hostaria Borromei, not too far away. Decline that recommendation. That is not a good place, and certainly not of the quality of the hotel.
Beautiful breakfast had fresh ingredients, proscuitto, chunks of parmesano reggiano, brie properly aged, beautiful fresh fruit, (in contrast to plastic cheese, over processed cold cuts, juices over sugared and processed and canned fruit on many hotel breakfasts), eggs to order, all cheerfully served up. Only problem, the food was so good it was hard to leave and exercise some restraint.
Free internet, free minibar (non alcoholic). OK, these are not big ticket items, but it really is annoying to be charged for these basic items when paying what is generally considered to be a substantial room rate.
Bed linens were beautiful. Only negative, no robes. Slippers, but no robes.
Wonderful location for walking and sight seeing, return to the hotel and go out again. May need to take a cab for high quality evening dining.

Room Tip: Room 43 was quiet (on back side), adequate room with nice little leather sofa and contemporary writi...

We just had a wonderful 5 day stay in Milan. For the most part we really enjoyed our accommodations at Spadari. When we arrived, we were greeted by a charming and always smiling Barbara, who made us feel at home right away. We were checked in in a matter of seconds and taken to our room on the 1st floor (No.5). The room is small, but well equipped with proper storage, a desk, a very comfortable reading chair and plenty of wardrobe space and wall hooks for your coats. The bathroom is actually quite spacious and has tub and a shower stall, and stocked with most necessary products and plenty of towels (although no washcloths.) The large window looked out on a well planted interior courtyard, so the room didn't get much daylight, which was not an issue for us, since we were out most of the day. There is a tiny TV with 100's of Sky channels, including a dozen or so English-language channels, all news. It wasn't obvious how to work the TV, but the porter came up and quickly showed us. The mini-bar was well stocked, and all non-alcoholic beverages were included in the price of the room (a big plus! most hotels charge 5+ Euros for a small water or a can of Coke;) there was also a decent selection of alcoholic drinks for purchase (the selection changed every day, which was a little unusual, but you could always ask for whatever you wanted from the bar downstairs.) The breakfasts were really good. There was the usual selection of fruit, yogurts, pastries, cold cuts, etc., but you could also order eggs to your liking, with bacon and a variety of vegetables. We loved the fact that we could have the breakfast in our room at no extra cost, but we always wound up in the quiet and comfortable series of breakfast rooms, where the service was friendly and fast. All of the staff was absolutely great. We got a really good recommendation for a nearby sushi restaurant, on the one evening we didn't feel like having Italian, but there are also lists of tried and tested trattorias and upscale Italian places at the front desk.
There were a few issues that some people may find to be deal breakers, but all of these did not bother us that much. First of all, there was a light scent of cigarettes coming from the carpet; we had to open our window and air out the room every day. It wasn't that strong and the hotel does offer non-smoking rooms for those really bothered. The custom-made doors are showing their age: the bathroom door needs to be pushed in with force in order to close, and the room door slammed shut, if it wasn't held back. It seems that all the doors on the floor slammed, we could hear them from our room. This brings me to the biggest issue at this hotel - the noise. We are strong sleepers and early risers, so we weren't affected by the various noises, but I am sure some people would be. We could clearly hear all conversations in the hall outside (even a couple of night-time lovers' quarrels); all the doors opening and closing; the water running and toilets flushing upstairs; the maids going in and out of the linen closet immediately next to our room; the espresso pounding in the breakfast room just below us; and people talking, via the courtyard, when the window was open. People staying in the rooms facing the front also said that they could hear the trams going by every few minutes. I don't believe that we actually heard people inside their rooms though. Again, for us the noises were not a big problem.
The location is ideal for exploring central Milan. You are within a quick walk to many interesting areas, Navigli, Brera, Montenapoleone, Corso Como, and many more; and of course il Duomo is practically next door. The glorious Peck food shop is directly next door, which is handy, since the hotel does not have its own restaurant. If you are in Milan for shopping, as many people are, you are also within minutes to all the usual high street shops, the classic Italian luxury brand shops and many less known boutiques; the magnificent Galleria is just down the street and so is the very posh La Rinascente department store (which also has a good food section and a nice selection of bars and restaurants; don't miss the incredible view of il Duomo from their rooftop il Bar and the restaurant next to it!)
Even with the above issues, this was a very fun stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Spadari again.

Room Tip: For a quieter sleep, ask for a room on a higher floor, facing the back and not next to a linen close...
