“Great rooms and friendly staff!”

This hotel is a former palace with lovely rooms, some with terraces. The staff was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay!

I arrived in this small hotel at the suggestion of a friend who had warned me of the special features. Fantastic, I could not expect better. The reception is not full time but are so kind and thoughtful of you to feel at ease at any time. simply call the number of hotels for any kind of service. breakfast served in your room until 11 is excellent, freshly squeezed orange juice and newspaper, mineral water and coffee, including all wonder

After flying for 12 hours, we unintentionally took the express train from Rome and unexpectedly ended up in Milan. We found this hotel in Frommers. When we arrived by taxi we had to wait for the manager (Stephano) to drive to the hotel and let us in. Stephano could not have been more helpful to two weary travellers. He brought our luggage up via the outside elevators, phoned a couple of restaurants to make us reservations and actually walked us to the restaurant to help us find our way. The breakfast they serve you in your room is wonderful - home baked croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious coffee and chocolate. Although this is a quaint, 130 year old hotel, the room had all the modern amenities including satellite t.v. where you could changed the dubbed shows to original language (English). Highly recommended.

this small hotel is situated in one the most beautiful area of milano.
a deprived central zone of wealth and luxury but flood of the charm of other times.
Here you can discover some small secrets of a authentic charme of true hospitality and felt. The rates are not always the same and some time are very high but they appear as something symbolic to preserve this place from insensitive people to this oneness

Several guidebooks had recommended this in addition to someone we knew living in Milan who had used it for visiting relatives. Decor very tired with a mismatch of bedspreads, curtains etc.

Bathroom old with no shower curtain (although plenty of hot water and strong shower from the attachment ) but bath only filled up using shower attachment which had to be held (learnt to our cost not to hold it resulted in water everywhere!).

Beds were very hard and quite uncomfortable although clean.

Breakfast served in the room - lovely and fresh food but nowhere to sit and have it properly . The rooms have balconies but too small to sit on. Very noisy street.

Receptionist was nice and helpful but still got the time of our last breakfast wrong so we left the hotel late and had to get a taxi at extra expense.

Wouldn't recommend staying there as felt very expensive for what we got.

  • Liked — Location
  • Disliked — Hard beds and noise(even with ear plugs!)

Be warned when booking this "quanit" hotel. No doorman will help you with your luggage (indeed, if you arrive out of hours, the hotel itself may be completely locked), there is certainly no room service, no "staff" to speak of (one surly teenage boy handed me the room key, and pointed meto the ricketey stair case) and not even any breakfast on offer.

The decor could be described as "vintage" I suppose, but really much of it was plain shabby. Dusty lacey curtains, doddering wooden table, a bathroom from the 1950's, etc. And as a female guest staying alone, I worried about the dodgy lock on the door and overall lack of security.

I checked out after one night and went to The Gray instead. What a relief! (and not much difference in price).

I think hotels like this need to smarten up their act. We're not living in the age of Fellini anymore.

  • Liked — The ancient bathroom had historic interest
  • Disliked — Nothing came up to scratch

My husband and I spent a month in Europe on our honeymoon this fall, and during that time we sought out hotels that were arty, unique, in interesting neighborhoods, and affordable. Of the seven hotels that we stayed in, this was the only place where we felt that we has struck out. It was by far the most expensive place that we stayed...and yet it was scruffy (peeling wallpaper, old wall-to-wall carpet), VERY loud (we didn't sleep), and in almost every respect, it felt like a big step down from cheaper places we had stayed at in Paris and Rome. The very best thing about the hotel is its location, which can't be beat; there is a lot of interesting, late-night stuff going on in the surrounding Brera district. And the staff was very nice. But we were mystified as to what the fuss over this place was all about.
