Great Location, great historical building with a very nice restaurant/bar area (and related garden which you would not expect from outside!) and super professional/friendly staff.
Overall (especially the rooms) would need some refurbishment and definitely a very deep clean. My room was very dusty (both room and bathroom) with old smelly carpet and a horrible and stained bed headboard (see pics).
I asked to have a different room which was not changed as apparently there was no availability. The helpful receptionist sent the cleaner but this did not resolve the issue (the pics attached are after the room was "cleaned").
The bathroom also needed attention (e.g. shower leaking and flooding the room) and deep clean which is a pity as it's actually a marble-based one and in a lovely typical Italian style.
This is definitely not the standard you would expect from such a hotel and considering the room rate (over £220 per night!) nor in terms of service (e.g. change the room!) also considering I spent a couple of nights there.
Definitely a positive note to the breakfast buffet which is very reach and with a great choice of food (cold/hot, sweet/flavour) and professionalism of the staff (but for the restaurant supervisor/receptionist who was clearly annoyed and very vocal with other staff member and which is unacceptable when affecting customers - e.g. when asking for a drink, rather then taking the order or sending a staff member, he requested for us to go, order and wait to the bar which again is unacceptable considering the price and the fact the service charge is included).
Overall, this could be a great place and it definitely has potential however some attention is needed here and there.
