This is the small church next to the museum that houses the Last Supper. The church is small but one of the prettiest my wife & I saw in Milan. We were unable to procure tickets to see the Last Supper. They are sold out days in advance. We learned that some of the hotels that have tickets they they don't use are released for sale at 8:00 am each morning. BTW, museums are closed on Mondays in Milan.

Church attached to the hall housing the Last Supper. Overlooked by most of the visitors who were with us to see DaVinci's classic, make sure you visit it. It is a mix of gothic and renaissance styles, the latter using geometric shapes.

The Last Supper is a mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci and it is located in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria della Grazie. The painting represents the scene of The Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples, as it is told in the Gospel of John, 13:21. Leonardo has depicted the consternation that occurred among the Twelve Disciples when Jesus announced that one of them would betray him.

The painting is considered a master piece. And when you see it, you understand why. The angles, the lightning and the perspectives are unique. Also, the moment Leonardo chose to portray is great.

It is recommended to book the tickets in advance. Since I was alone, I was lucky enough to find a last minute ticket, but if I was with only 1 other friend, I wouldn't be able to see it.

Visited Milan in 2010 and could not get tickets to see this so booked 3 months in advance when we returned to the city in 2013. The painting is stunning and for that reason alone you should go. Be prepared however for lots of hanging around - you pick up your timed tickets, and then wait in 2 ante rooms before entrance to the room is granted. We seemed to be there for an hour before we got to see the painting. Our English speaking guide was very difficult to understand, she had poor diction and the acoustics in there do not help. The 15 minute window is probably sufficient but you feel the time pressure. Expensive but it is a masterpiece.
