Amazing for its classical art, the main focus, but also extensive collections of jewellery, armour, furniture, timepieces, china and more!

“Wonderful small museum”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We loved this museum. It is like a private house with some exceptional treasures and blissfully uncrowded. We enjoyed the fact that there was furniture, porcelain jewllery etc. as well as paintings, and the size seemed perfect, not too large and daunting for teenage children with a short attention span!

“Great museum.”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

I've seen on TV Philippe Daverio describing this museum as one unknown gem in Milano, so when I went to Milano to see the wonderful Modigliani exhibition, I took my time to go to the Poldi Pezzoli museum. It holds several Italian renaissance paintings, textiles, porcelains, glasses, metalworks and jewels. The rooms are finely restored with many original furniture, taking into account that the palace was bombed during WW2. There some particular collections donated from rich families, such as the Sundials, Clock & Watch (with several masterpieces such as the armillary sphere) and an arms and armour room. We also had a short "guided" visit when we asked some info to the ex-carabinieri working there as volunteers. Very kind people.

“Well worth a visit - some great art.”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Many floors to explore. Some great, some not so good but art is not an objective discipline so you do need to see it for yourself. It tells a story of Italy which you could read but why not see it? The building itself is great too. Really enjoyed it and, thus, recommend it.
