Owner description: For sheer belle époque splendor, this extravagant 19th-century glass-topped, barrel-vaulted tunnel serves as a lively, noisy and colorful shopping mall, teeming with life and inviting you to people-watching from the tables that spill from the Galleria's many bars and restaurants.

Ok it is huge but the outside is all grey and the inside is full of chains shops. The coupole worth a minute.

“not what i expected”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

i was looking forward to the architecture of this shopping area. it was very lovely, but it it so tiny. looking at everything in the guide books and online made this seem like a don't miss, but it really wasn't all that exciting. the shops are out of my budget, but i wasn't expecting to shop either. just take some photos and do a little window shopping. i would suggest doing a quick walk through on your way to the duomo, but thats about it.

“Big Mac for lunch @ LouisVitton? Great!”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

I visited Milan in July 2011. The Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II is unique, in design, and light, and a great view of it is from the roof of the Duomo, where I started. The inside of the Galleria is amazing, the beautiful ceiling in small windows, paintings all around on the top, the floor with beautiful design... It’s art, all over..
Inside the Galleria you find the best shops, with the famous names as LouisVitton and Prada, right next to each other. And others, in which storefront you can find 20.000 euro handbags.
Now, the possibility of eating a Big Mac for lunch, right next to those beauties, is very nice, proof of excellent taste and some sense of humour, for me. Top! :)

Top! :)

Impressive how old this place is and still in good nick. All the top italian designers are here. Pricey and just off the duomo.

“Beautiful shopping centre”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

But it is only a shopping centre after all, and pretty overrun with tourists at that. The architecture is stunning though so I would at least recommend a cursory glance.
