“a really nice place for a late dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2011

We visited porca vacca for a late dinner on our first night in Milan. The fisft (good) impression is that they served untill late, i.e. they served us though we arrived at 11:00 p.m. and there were people still finishing their meal or having their wine till after midnight. The second good impression is that the restaurnat is in front of a small park wich makes it beautiful to sit outside, as we did, on a warm evening. The area was really nice and quiet at the end of August when we were there.
The food was good, we had a salad, a starter, pasta and tiramisu for dessert which was delicious, and the stuff were very polite, helpful and pleasant.
Only minus is that the menu didn't offer a very wide selection of plates but that did't bother us since there was enough to choose from.
The seating area inside seemed a bit small but modern.
Definately recommended especially if you want to seat outside or have a late dinner.

“Definitively to forget”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2011

Third attempt here, the first time I was quite happy, the second completely disappointed but wanted to give one more chance, after this third time I put a full stop on this place.

The place was almost empty this evening (a sign?) so we at least did not suffer from overcrowding, noise and stuffing like last time.

We ordered two "tartara" to begin: the meat was not bad as quality but the size was HALF the one I had last time (the price did not change, of course) and the cut very incaccurate (you could not pick up a piece that half the dish did come together, and the thing was full of fat and nerves).

Then I took a "cinta senese" pork fillet with baked potatos: the meat was overcooked, stiff, dry and hard, summing the fact that it seems like the cook salted it twice it was essentially uneatable; the potatoes gummy and fatty (this same dish was almost excellent the first time I was here, eight months ago); my girlfriend got a vegetables roll, I did not test it but asked her a rating from 0 to ten, answer: six; it was everything embedded with tomato sauce "as if it was prepared two days ago and reheated".

The above (Two appetizers, one meat second dish, one vegetable second dish) plus one low range bottle of red wine (a Barbera d'Asti, which you can buy at a market for 8-10 euro, you can have in a restaurant for 15 and here was billed 20) summed up to 110 euro.

Just to be clear: this was not a "standard" meal for two (which in italian restaurant is per person an appetizer, one first dish, a second dish and a dessert, which would have taken the price here to above 80-90 euros per person).

Service slow and unprofessional (the waiter several times hitted us while putting things on the table, then simply forgot us there for half an hour, and the place was half empty...).

In brief: a place to forget, not to forgive.
