I ate the most delicious octopus and potato salad ever at this place. It is an odd restaurant, very globalised, the waiter was Russian, the manager Chinese, the cook from North Africa, but the food tasted most authentically Italian and very very tasty. We sat outside, the place stayed open past 11pm. I would definitely eat here again

Found this street restaurant on first night in Milan. Pleasantly pleased with service and quality of food. Nothing too much trouble. Nice touch of a grappa on the house when we paid bill. Also let us sample a couple of wines before buying.

Went there not really knowing what I'm gonna get. And it turned out to be a very fine and affordable restaurant. The staff was brilliant and I was served by FRANCESCO he is so good, friendly and polite too. And if you want, he can help you with what you gonna order. My advice is to let him recommend the dishes for you.

Nice staff, but the food is below average, they made the order wrong, and after asking for the check three times I'm starting to think that I should have just stayed home and made the food myself... You're in Milano, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

We came across Pane e Tulipani while looking for some place not too far from our hotel. We were absolutely delighted when we found Via Fabio with a small selection of restaurants available and returned to Pane e Tulipani two evenings.

Both nights we had caprese and a mixed cold meat plate as our antipasto. Both were delicious. The first night we had the "spicy" spaghetti and the risotto with seafood. It was delicious. We returned the second night and had the spaghetti with seafood (delicious) and the risotto with artichoke (disappointingly bland and needed more or better seasoning).

The waiter was delightful and attended to our needs perfectly.

Our experience was marred (for lack of a better word) by the coming and going of people in the restaurant who came out to smoke. Sometimes two or three times over the course of a couple of hours and sometimes as many as 6 at the same time. One even came over and sat at the table next to ours for the sole purpose of finishing his cigarette. No one else outside was smoking.... only those that chose to share their smoke with us from inside the restaurant before heading back inside.

Neither my wife nor I are smokers so I accept we are sensitive to having second hand smoke ruin an otherwise pleasant experience. However, this seems to be a pattern (meeting with customers or friends outside for a smoke) encouraged by the owner(s) and they need to be aware that other customers do not find the behaviour acceptable.

While I'm only removing "one" point out of the 5 possible, I was very tempted to remove more. At the very least, smoking should be limited to a select area outside or away from the eating area. Either that or Italy could follow France's example and just ban smoking everywhere.
