Perfect location. Rooms is not so big but still it is very confortable. Accurate design. Nice old building; rooms are opening directly on an external open corridor in the innner garden. Only problem can be that you have to keep tents closed to avoid other clients looking inside the rooom. We did not have breakfast so I cannot say about it.

The hotel is in a great location, steps away from some lovely restaurants and within a comfortable walking distance to many of the attractions in Milan (also very close to a underground station). The front desk staff were very polite and welcoming. Our room was spotlessly clean and well maintained. It had a lot of character with original beams and was very comfortable. The breakfast selection was varied and plenty on offer. We had a table by a window each morning which looked out onto the canal and it was a lovely way to start the day. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, we had a lovely stay and would return.

I was disappointed with this hotel. Very average and more 3 stars than 4 stars. Room and bathroom were small and lacked warmth. The gentlemen on the desk were superficially friendly but of little assistance with restaurants or activities. I think previous reviews of this hotel overrated it. There is better value for money. Certainly when we were in Milan. Breakfast was reasonable. During the night I could hear the person above stomping around the room.

So often, and especially in these trying times, we cringe at some of the decisions hoteliers make. Maison Borella is just the opposite of that. Like a mini Kempinski, it does just what it should - no more no less - just right - like the price. They're working on the breakfast - buffet scrambled eggs were luke warm - my only note.

Room Tip: larger rooms on the courtyard - quieter in the summer. In the winter there is little difference and...

This hotel is on the Naviglio Grande and that is a great location. Near tons of shops, restaurants, cafes - Porta Genova train station/green metro line - near Bocconi (13 minutes by foot) near Cattolica (12 minutes by foot). Just a great location.

But location is not enough. This hotel wants to be exclusive but doesn't quite get it right. Why?

1) Room was not available when I got there at around 1430. Should have been ready at 1400.
2) Excellent 4 star hotels tell you to sit in the lounge and offer you a drink "on the house". I got the drink and paid for it.
3) The door to the room doesn't close well and there is no latch on the inside of the door to keep people out. In fact, I was nudo crudo and someone opened my door with an electronic door key. A safety lock on the door would go a long way to resolving this.
4) Came down for breakfast at 1045 am. Late, I know, but no breakfast. No indication of last call on the web and at check-in they said breakfast until 11 am. When I questioned the bar-hand he said, "breakfast during the week until 1030 am, until 11 on the weekends." They did make me a cappuccino and gave me a glass of water. Thanks, but not enough.
5) Not very important, but the closet, with a beautifully restored black doors, doesn't have a light inside it. How am I supposed to see what is inside the dark, dark closet if there is no light?
6) Not very important, but as far as I could tell there were NO non-italian language channels. Since this place wants to attract an international crowd, and it does, this is not acceptable.
7) Too much light in the room. I don't want to wake up because the room is full of light. Put curtains in that block most, if not all the light.

Room Tip: Depends on what you want. Getting a room that faces the Navigle is going to make for a loud night.
