We sat outside on a nice spring evening (finally!!) and had a lovely meal - pizza was excellent, the carbonara very flavourful and the risotto excellent! Service was very friendly and the price perfectly reasonable (4 main dishes, 1/2 carafe house red, water and 2 espressos for €62.

We have just returned to our hotel room after a meal at il Kaimano and felt we had to write a review as soon as possible to make tourists aware to AVOID this restaurant.
As soon as we enter the cramped and chaotic restaurant, we were served by a rude and abrupt waiter, who was clearly distainful of tourists.....even though be persisted speaking English, when my wife tried to order in italian. The menu we were given, did not match the menu outside and when I asked for something on the menu outside, he abruptly said he did not have any of that this evening. In general the service was rushed, I constantly felt waiters brushing past me and nobody in the restaurant made us feel welcome. I can't really complain about the food, it wasn't bad, but it was nothing special. We did noticed however that all the tourists in the restaurant were given a basket of sliced bread, yet the Italians seemed to be enjoying a basket of rosemary focaccia bread..........At the end of the meal when he brought the bill, even though he had not been polite or accommodating in the slightest, he felt the need to tell us, services was not included!

Not every Italian restaurant is like this, the previous evening we went to Ristorante Convivium, which is 5mins around the corner and the food and service was amazing!

We were too early for an aperitivo but in the mood for a glass of wine. What a BAD CHOICE! A place with a hostesse to pull in tourists usually is a sign for ripp-off. We should have known... :(

We told her we only wish to drink she was ok with that but begged us at least to order a small thing. First we were open to that and agreed, but all the starters on the menue were over 12€ and we were not willing to pay that much. Unfortunately we were allready seated had ordered the wine. For the sake of it and showing good will i took the only cheap thing on the card - 1 bruchetta(5€).

The waiter came out and explained to me it would take a long time as the oven was cold and we agreed to wait. So we thought. This conversation was held in english he seemed to perfectly understand us, showing no sign of any missunderstanding. Still we got cheated big time! After a short while they served us a plate for 2(!) with salad, tomatoes, cheese&bread. THEY JUST OVERRODE OUR ORDER, SERVING US SOMETHING FAR MORE EXPENSIVE, + the food was AVERAGE and OVERPRICED!

We should have refused but we didnt want to make a scene. Now that i think of, the oven was perfectly working as i went to the toiletts. Also the served bread was warm! I think they are very well aware of what they are doing and use this trick/lie to betray their customers. We ended up paying more than 45€ for this snack incl. Water, 1/2 wine(8€), coperto. The ordered bruchetta (5€) transformed into something else at the price of +26€

Where in the world have you ever payed 26€ for a flipping salad??? Despite the price, this is not the riz! Of course they still asked for extra tips to honour their tremendous service. Try to avoid this place under any circumstances! You will regrett it twice: first when they serve the food and second when you see your bill!

Ive been to this place many times. The food is consistently good particularly if you want a pizza or bufalo mozzarella. Most of the staff are excellent and the manager never fails to make me welcome. I like the location and have tried other restaurants on this street . However I keep going back to the Kaimano.

Delicious food, gluten-free dishes, wonderful service. I wish we'd found this place earlier in our trip because we'd probably have returned :) An excellent option in the Brera district!!
