“Stay Here - Fantastic location”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

We just stayed at the Porta Garibaldi B & B for 5 nights just over Easter. It is a fantastic location and within a half hour walk to the Duomo, although other transportation is very convenient. The location is within a 5 minute walk to a tram line and within 10 minutes walk to the Garibaldi subway stop, as well as train station (Stazione Porta Garibaldi). You can take the train from here to Como (1.5 hours) for a day trip on Lake Como. We did, to Bellagio and I would recommend it! The location is very close to Corso Como, which is just down the street.

Although advertised as a B & B, it is very much like a private apartment. Alessandra, the owner, lives next door with her family. The studio apartment is on the top floor of a residential building. There appears to be a bit of renovation going on within the courtyard area, but we never heard anything and it was quiet at night. The apartment is well designed, with a nice kitchen and bathroom. The bed is extremely comfy, especially after walking around Milan all day long. There is ample storage in an extremely large wardrobe. As indicated in other reviews, Alessandra leaves food in the kitchen and you can cook and eat when you like. The fridge was always well stocked with eggs, bacon, yoghurt, milk. On top of that, she had these lovely baked goods put out! Yum! Wifi is available and free, just make sure you get the password.

There is a Carrefour Express (mini supermarket) just downstairs on the street, along with a multitude of restaurants and a really nice cafe/bakery just by the Porta Garibaldi. Milan's Chinatown is only a 5 minute walk away on Via Paolo Scarpi.

Alessandra was very responsive with enquiries. I thoroughly recommend this B and B and would stay again on my return to Milan. Really, why stay at a hotel when you can stay here?

What is a perfect location and nice apartment. It was our 2nd times to stay in Garibaldi B&B. Everything is same as last year, fully equipped self contained apartment. The owner, Alessandra leaves the fridge stocked with eggs, yoghurt, bacon, white and brown bread, and fruits. We really appreciated this set up, as we enjoyed cooking all our own dinners and breakfasts. Stayed here and we feel "a real Italian Experience". Shopped the locals meat/vegetables shop, and communicated with them in a very little Italian.
Location is perfect, within walking distance to centre.
Alessandra, thanks for your hospitality and warmth. See you next year.
Highly recommend if you are in Milano.

Alessandra is the hostess with the mostest at this fabulous B&B just outside the city centre - easy walk to the Duomo, La Scala etc. Very comfortable bed, small but well-equipped kitchen area, big bathroom and stacks of storage space. Alessandra speaks good English and couldn't be more helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

very good choice for staying in Milan. The position of the b&b is ideal. The centre is within walking distance. It is also situated near of some of the clubs in Milan. However it is not noisy at all. The room has its own kitchen which is sticked with plenty of food. If something is over you can ask for a refill.
The decoration is modern with nice warm colours.
The only negative is that the internet connection was not very good.
I would definately chose it for my next trip to Milan

There is honestly not enough stars available to award Porta Garibaldi and Alessandra. Both prior to arrival and throughout the booking phase, Alessandra was efficient, replied promptly and communicated well.

The apartment is modern, tidy and spacious. It's furnished pretty stylish and groovy. The location was terrific as it was a five minute walk from Milano Porta Garibaldi station, which has both regional trains and the metro. It is also about a 20 minute walk from the Duomo and the main shopping district. This walk was enjoyable with plenty of stores and cafes along the way. But you can also catch the metro anywhere quite easily. The kitchen was stocked with baked treats (which were replenished daily), yogurts, biscuits, cereal, cheeses, crackers, bacon, eggs etc. All the food was delicious. The bed was super comfortable and wi-fi worked perfectly (although my iPad struggled to find the network at first).

Alessandra is so helpful. She was flexible with arranging an extra bed for a friend to stay and storing our luggage from check out time (11am) until our flight later that night. We also had problems with our bank in withdrawing the cash to pay on check out, she was extremely understanding about everything. We really thank her for this and would recommend Porta Garibaldi to anyone who is in Milan. Alessandra will most definitely look after you.

A tasteful, bright and imaginatively designed studio apartment. Beautifully and quite expensively finished - check out the carpentry and that bathroom mirror. Alessandra was very helpful both during the enquiry phase and on arrival. Kitchen was nicely stocked with breakfast items, plus supermarket directly outside. The bed is really comfy - I mean mega-comfy. We liked the location - a lively area at night, with good eating options, a bit edgy with some partygoer noise from the street below but nothing that will scare anyone who likes a buzzing city - you're safely tucked up high. Wifi is a bit flaky - think this is the location of the router rather than the connection. There's an interconnecting door between this apartment and the owner's flat, and a little bit of noise travels. But this is such a minor issue when weighed up against the whole loveliness of the overall package. Deposit and payment arrangements, and check in / out were professional but relaxed. A great place to stay in Milan, that was excellent value for money.

My daughter and I stayed at Porta Garibaldi for 5 nights over Xmas. It is located on the edge of the City Centre within easy walking distance of shops and cafes and major attractions. It is also quite close to the train station. The B&B was very comfortable and Alessandra had stocked the pantry beautifully with some Italian Xmas treats for our stay. We were able to cook Xmas dinner for ourselves in the compact kitchen. It was easy to find and Allessandra provided us with good information about how to get around. I would really recommend it.
