This solo female traveller enjoyed the process of choosing where to stay in Milan. I couldn't have picked a better spot. My rooms looked into the Vittorio Emanuelle Galleria so position wise it was just great. Plenty of choice for a meal and room service at the hotel offered plenty of options. I found this hotel very clean, quiet and comfortable with the most delightful welcoming staff. I had two stays here and would not hesitate to recommend it to others or to return. Go enjoy your stay and enjoy being in the heart of Milan!

Town house 8 in Milan is perfectly located in the Vittorio Emanuele ii Galleria, which is directly across from the fantastically gothic Duomo. The hotel itself is classy and the Galleria view room comes with a short balcony overlooking the designer shops and restaurant's below. The finish quality is probably not what you would expect at this standard but wasn't too bad. The biggest problem I had was the lack of homeliness in the hotel. An external lift takes you past the second floor reception and eating areas and i didn't feel that there was any pull of activity calling me to get out and explore the interior. It felt as though the hotel was entirely empty of staff and clientele, which some people may like but i found this a little cold and un-homely. The earthquake in Bolgna made the curtains billow and the bed wobble like a stiff jelly, a very weird experience. The galleria was still standing outside the shutters so they built things to last all them years ago.

Room Tip: Choose a Galleria room or suite. Only 10 minutes walk from the airport bus stop. Lock the door otherwise when other doors are opened along the narrow corridor the vacuum pull makes it rattle.

I read the TripAdvisor reviews of Seven Stars Galleria prior to booking my stay there, and was shocked to read the comments left by people who obviously believe themselves to be deities walking this earth. This was by far the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in - the food is excellent, the service is spectacular, the location is perfect, and the sincerity and discretion of the staff made the entire experience something akin to what I assume it would be like to live as royalty.

I stayed at the Galleria in March (the air con, by the way, worked 24/7 - so not sure what the other comments are referring to there) and after reading the mixed TripAdvisor reviews, I didn't know what to expect. I quickly discovered, however, that all of the negative comments must be due to the sour character of the people who wrote them, because there is surely no other reason why this hotel would receive such nasty comments.

Not only were we greeted warmly by the staff, but they apologized profusely for the five minute delay in bringing us our complimentary champagne and assortment of chocolate ganache (hardly something I felt they needed to apologize for!) The butlers accommodated every request quickly and were always smiling and courteous. The lovely women at reception called us prompt taxis on multiple occasions and gave us a different recommendation every night for restaurants and bars - all wonderful, and some were small gems that we never would have found on our own. Breakfast was fabulous every morning - certainly not '2 stars,' as other comments have claimed, and the food available for room service was even better. Also, it seemed like every time we left the room, even if only for fifteen minutes, we returned to find it had been cleaned.

From this kind of unbelievable service and unparalleled professionalism to the beautiful frescoes and stunning views over the Galleria, the Seven Stars title is certainly well-deserved. The only bad thing I would have to say about this hotel would be that after your stay, returning home to your normal life may seem pretty unglamorous by comparison. I personally can't wait for an excuse to return to Milan and get pampered by the Townhouse 8 staff again! In the meantime, however, I would be very curious to meet some of these commenters and see if they really are as unbearable as they sound on paper. Please ignore their comments unless you are an actual princess looking for a place to crash while your castle gets refurbished - in which case, good luck finding a hotel that can live up to your standards. If Seven Stars Galleria can't, then I cannot possibly imagine what would.

We couldn't speak more highly of our stay at ToWn House 8. From the moment of our arrival, where we were offered a welcome drink, we were treated with great courtesy and friendliness by the staff.
Our room over looking the galleria was very large, with a beautifully appointed bathroom, and was very quiet when the doors were closed.
We enjoyed the excellent food too ,both at breakfast and one evening for dinner.

Room Tip: We had a junior suite, overlooking Galleria.

Well located hotel with a good bathroom - aside from that extremely disappointing:

Main issue is air-conditioning not turned on until mid-April (Milan was sweltering last weekend). Something to do with regulations not allowing it to be turned on before. Very poor nights sleep. Fan was provided instead ....

Bathroom not made up from the night before

Room plain and uninspiring - no pictures or anything on walls (except huge TV)

Breakfast very disappointing - croissants / bread not fresh - service unsmiling

Cliams to be a 7* deluxe hotel (how it gets there I am not sure) but fails on many levels to meet ordinary standards. Expensive, poorly run, poor value for money hotel

With some effort, organisation and training could be a great hotel .....
