Simply the perfect stay. The room was huge, clean and gorgeous. Everything seemed updated and very classically decorated. The location was the very best you could hope for and when my colleague I was visiting in Milan met me at the hotel, he was amazed that he didn't know about the place. He took a brochure with plans to have visitors stay there in the future. The ONLY reason someone may not want to stay here is that it doesn't offer the services of a large hotel (ie a gym or room service). However there are great restaurants literally within a 60 second walk so it really is a non issue. If you are looking for a room in Milan don't give it a second thought and book here... That is if you're lucky enough to get one of the 15 rooms.

Our first encounter at the Camperio House was with Luca, a multi-lingual (he speaks perfect English), friendly person. Luca went out of his way to introduce us to the hotel and the surrounds. Although we were quite early and the room was not ready, he offered us a place to keep our bags, a beautiful breakfast and some ideas for touring the city. The Camperio House is a hidden gem! It has a classic Italian feel with beautiful spiral stone steps and well appointed rooms. Extremely clean and well kept, we enjoyed a powerful waterfall shower and pressed high quality linens. Luca and the other staff members continued to impress us with their warmth and care during our stay. This is a perfect place to explore central Milan with close proximity to great restauants, all of the finest shops and the wonderful sights

This is one of the best places to stay in Milan. It's perfectly located on a back street, just around the corner from Via Dante (excellent for shopping, cafe/desserts etc) and only 1 min walk from Cairoli station (Metro 1) or a 10 min walk to Duomo.
Although we arrived too early to check in they offered to store our luggage for a couple of hours until we could get into our room. They also upgraded us to a better room unprompted! When we returned, our bag was already waiting in our room.
Rooms are stylish, spacious and spotless clean and the bed nice and firm. They have anything you can ask for, including satellite tv (SKY Italia), DVD player, Nespresso machine + pods!!! iron + ironboard, lots of wardrobe space and stacks of complementary toiletries in the bathroom.
The continental breakfast was excellent (fresh pastries, italian cold meats, cheese, bread bin, jams/nutella/honey in portion glass jars etc) and the staff very polite. Because this is a B&B rather than a hotel, it means that it's never crowded or noisy and service feels personalised.
I would be very cynical if I tried to criticise anything about our stay, you won't be dissappointed!

Brilliantly located between the Castle and the Duomo, Camperio House Suites was a quiet, cool oasis in busy Milan. We stayed for 2 nights in July and would definitely stay again. This small hotel is part of a large old building that houses other apartments/businesses, but was quiet and had a lovely authentic feel with high ceilings and a central staircase. The street signage is discete - once through the main door, there is easy access to reception. The staff were very helpful, spoke excellent English, welcomed us with maps and information on our arrival, and recommended 2 excellent restaurants within walking distance when requested. From memory, the Reception desk was attended until 11pm.

Whilst our room was moderately sized, the bathroom was large and both were modern, well appointed, and spotlessly clean. There was air conditioning, free wifi internet, and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was served in a lovely room on the gound floor. We preferred yoghurt, cereals and fuits and found the quality and choices of these to be good, but can't comment on more substantial options.

Overall, we enjoyed Milan and found it far more interesting and atmospheric than expected. I think our location in the centre amid the old buildings and narrow streets, with the main shopping and sightseeing within easy walking distance contributed to our enjoyment. We recommend Campario House Suites and would stay there again if we are lucky enough to come back to Milan.

So I planned this trip as a side trip for shopping after my Greece vacation.

Of course, I emailed the hotel to have a car pick me up but the chauffer did not show up at the airport. After almost 45 minutes of waiting and we were exchanging calls with the hotel, the concierge at the hotel had asked me to just take a cab.

Of course, the cab driver had dropped us off about 1 house away from the Camperio House. While we were trying to figure out where in the world we were, the cab driver had backed up his cab, got off and pointed us to the right place.

So after the 2 1/2 hr plane ride from Santorini to Milan, the 30 minutes wait for the baggages to come out of Terminal 2 at Malpensa, the 45 minutes wait for the car to pick us up, and the 50 minutes ride from Malpensa to Milan, we arrived looking like part of our baggage at Camperio House.

Luca was very apologetic. Of course, I was one unhappy camper. But it seemed that he was profusely serious in the mix-up with the limousine service. In return for the mix up, they provided a bottle of wine, a room upgrade and booked us for dinner at Nabucco.

So let's talk about Camperio House Suites and Apartments. It used to be a convent (according to Oxana). The place is very private and there are just a few rooms. For a place like Europe where you expect the rooms to be small, this one is large enough and comfortable enough to be home. The rooms do not scream of elegance, but of a soft hue of comfort and hominess - because it makes you feel really at home. The elevators are old, but who cares. When you step on the flooring of the hall, the lights light up as an energy saving measure when the lights are not needed. The bathroom is fully equipped and has very nice amenities with modern features interspersed with the Milanese architecture.

There are two keys that are given to you (which you need to return). The first one is to your room and the second one is to the gates of the apartelle where the main doors are closed after 730pm.

Breakfast is simple without having to be overstuffed.

Camperio is a stone's throw away from the Duomo and a few steps away from the major shopping places along Via Dante. And the concierge/front desk staff know what they're talking about they talk about places to recommend for food. I mean, I had the best time eating at the best places in town. Trust me. If you don't have an inkling on where to dine, just ask them and they'll make reservations for you and point you in the right direction.

Camperio House Suites and Apartments is a respite away from home and it makes you feel like you're actually home. The privacy that is rendered by the staff and the reclusive place in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of Milan, will make you want to come home again to this place. I know I will.

In spite of the glitches on the transfers, Oxana was right - I probably was just having a bad day. And the people at Camperio more than made up for that bad day that I couldn't fault them for something beyond their control.

Room Tip: Get the Deluxe Suite...it's worth the cost!
