A very old building, belonged to washermen in old times but this has become now one of my favourite restaurant in Milan. Classical and harmonious atmosphere, very romantic and business too. A must try if you are in Milan. Well trained staff with perfect smile. Welcome drink from the house. Everything available you could imagine to eat, quite big menu, fresh, typical milanese and italian dishes, high quality with justified high prices.
Location is great with in the heart of the fashion district, close to the canal zone, great for walk around before and after dinner.

One of my ambitions on a first trip to Italy was to sample Ravioli - proper original ravioli, not from a Heinz tin.

This ambition was handsomely achieved by a trip to El Brellin, recommended by our hotel receptionists as one to try.

It is tucked away on the Navigli strip and feels quite authentic and non-touristy, certainly by my standards. We were a little late for our reservation, but there was no fuss from the staff about that, even though it was a busy Friday night in Milano.

After a pre-dinner drink, we settled down to our meal, looked after by efficient and non-overbearing waiters - and my ravioli was splendid. Heinz has lost a customer for life,

Sure, you could make a case that it was a tad expensive - our bill came to about £40 a head, including wine. But could you really expect to pay less for a good meal in this setting? I think not.

A disappointing experience overall. Lovely venue and service but the food was very poor. Expensive courses left us rather surprised and very disappointed. We would not return or recommends others. Our least good meal in Milan and our most expensive. The advice on wine was excellent.

If you are in the Navigli area at the end of the day, this bar/restaurant is a good option. If you are young and want to have a drink and some food at affordable prices, this is certainly a option. From 6-9PM the bar offers the "happy hours", where all drinks cost 4-5 euros and you have an "all-you-can-eat" buffet (cold cuts, cheese, pizza, etc) for 8 euros (october 2013). We stayed at the bar for one hour and then moved to the restaurant in the back to eat traditional Milanese food at a reasonable price. We had the lasagna with peppers and it was very tasty. For dessert we had the tiramisu, probably the best I've ever tried. We sat at the backyard in a fairly warm night for mid-october and had a very romantic dinner.

The maindoor is hidden, not on the main street. Environment is good, nice little garden. Food and price are average. Worth to get a try.
