We had a great time at El Brellin -- right on the canals of Milan. Jovial crowd from all over. The snacks at the bar area were plentiful!

Only good things to say about this lovely place....a chance encounter with El Brellin (in an area of Milan where you risk an "all you can eat" from a plastic plate) left us with wonderful memories of a birthday dinner spent under the awnings of a verdant terrace, a perfect summer evening with delightful service and subtle food, exquisite ham that resembled the Spanish Pata Negra, a lovely lasagne of red peppers and sweet provolone cheese...and we are still trying to replicate the Milanese Risotto cooked to perfection!.....We are deeply interested in wine, and were particularly thrilled with the suggestion made of a rare desert wine, and although we lingered, and ended up being the last customers, (and had not parted with fortune either) we were offered a complimentary Grappa and the friendliest of send offs!

We were recommended to the area of Navigli in Milan to have an evening out and something to eat. We found this restaurant on the canal side by simply walking past. They have a great little wine bar where we supped on Long Island Ice Teas until our table was ready. Moving through into the restaurant, there was more formal setting but still gorgeous and relaxing. The food was mouth watering. Lobster Ravioli was to die for and a beautiful light spaghetti starter, a brilliant and very gamey duck dish with a lovely jus and a perfect little carrot and potatoe souffle type thing which was perfect for mopping up the jus. My friend had salmon which was also really good. The service was excellent throughout and not massively expensive either. Little did we know the best of the night was still to come when we walked back into the cafe/winebar area to finish off our wine (and one or two more) listening to a brilliant mix of 80's tunes which kept us humming and tapping our toes until the wee hours. A brilliant night, with excellent food, fantastic ambience and staff with a great sense of humour ! You must try it if you are in the area ! Infact...try it even if you were not in the area...travel to try it ! ;))

A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location. Unfortunately the waiters appeared to be selectively attentive. We had to wait half an hour for our order to be taken. Others, who came in after us, were served quickly. We then had to wait an hour for our food, again others were served before us. We told the head waiter that the food was lovely but the service was not good and he couldn't have cared less! He said he wasnt expecting so many customers! Really! On a saturday night in august in a popular location?!! My advice would be to either employ more waiters or stop letting people in!! Another customer had gravy spilt down his jacket. His jacket was taken away but even after asking for it back it never returned, he had to go and fetch it himself with no apology at all. It was a real shame and so easily avoidable to make it a perfect restaurant.

In a stunning location by the canals where the young and beautiful hang out we were thrilled to have discovered this memorable restaurant.
Received a great welcome and complimentary aperitif and from there on in the evening just got better and better. Gorgeous food, beautiful wine and a lovely ambience.
