My friend from Belgium invited us to this marvelous restaurant. Everything was perfect. The atmosphere of this relatively small restaurant was warm, and exceedingly enjoyable. Except one young couple next to us (both looked like fashion models), all guests were Italian, some appear to be regulars talking with manager, server and staffs. Guests look all profession like us and good looking Italians. So I don't know what one of the most recent reviewers (lanePd) is talking about. Some people just don't know how to enjoy life. Food was the best we had during this 10 day trip through norther Italy. Wine was outstanding and service was just right, not so uptight but very attentive. I had mostly sea food but meat dishes others (friend and my wife) were having were also excellent. So if you are in Milan and looking for a exceptional restaurant, this is a place for you.

the restaurant is on a lovely street .looks great has the usual smart waiters . has all the points that would promise you a great experience but beware.all that shines is not gold.the first sign that things were askew was when all and i mean all the customers spoke english when i questioned the waiter he said that Italian diners would be coming later. that didn't happen. the food that followed explained why there wernt any italian clientèle in a Milanese restaurant .the oso buko was bland the saffron rissoto wasn't a rissoto at all just a porridge with all the rice grains broken .it was a disaster the veal cutlet was dry .the scallops in their shells were not seasoned and baked to a dry oblivion .it tasted like a waiter was cooking because the chef was sick.the only thing that was done well was the wine and i guess they cant really take the credit for that.all in all it was a terrible culinary experience with food that would not rate in a cafeteria .to add insult to injury the bill was expensive and it exposed the tourist trap that it is . give the tourists some glam and they wont notice the low quality..there are many fine restaurants in milan this is not one of them stay away.

When the paper bag arrives at your table open it up, delicious bread to be enjoyed. We did have small rolls, so thought it was to take with us, however at the end of the meal the waiter began to remove...so eat up.Meal was very good. They do have menus in English, I enjoy attempting the Italian version ...but good reference .Surrounded by Italian families and couples, and tourists, nice range. Came by this restaurant by chance, glad we did.

Our experience at this restaurant was outstanding in every way!! We were greeted by the owner and served by an exceptional waiter named Harold!! He made fabulous recommendations, paced the meal beautifully and made us feel very welcomed. The black squid ink fresh fish ravioli with saffron cream sauce with poppy seeds is not to be missed. The Paccheri pasta from Gragnano “Il Solferino style” was a perfect complement. Main courses were also delicious including the classic Veal Milanese and sensational Sesame-crusted grilled salmon. Had to finish with the Tiramisù and cappuccino. Also must mention the outstanding wine list featuring exceptional vintages from great Italian producers such as Angelo Gaja.
We must return with our adult children sometime in the near future!!

There is nothing do dislike in this restaurant. I think Solferino is a milestone for Milan. Under the managment of Gianni and best service by Harold it makes the delicious specialities unforgattable.
I can visit Milan again for being in Solferino
